Responsibilities:
As part of a diverse and hardworking team of engineers, you will have primary responsibility for the development, qualification, and production test campaigns on various New Glenn spaceflight assemblies ranging from mechanical, actuated, hydraulic, cryogenic, and/or pneumatic systems. As a member of the external test team, you will travel to the test facilities to build relationships with test houses and suppliers, witness and support test execution, ensure nominal operation, and troubleshoot off-nominal conditions and hardware. Other responsibilities include authoring and reviewing detailed test plans and procedures, performing test readiness reviews, conducting data reviews, and supporting the documentation and resolution of nonconformance\'s. You will work cross functionally with design engineering, procurement, program management, and others to successfully plan and execute component test campaigns conducted offsite. This role will own delivery and maintenance of test fixtures, test support equipment, and data acquisition systems, and deliver results by leveraging support from tooling and equipment designers, procurement, and external test facilities as necessary to design and secure this hardware. As a member of the New Glenn test organization, you will prioritize the safety of yourself and teammates above all else while maintaining relentlessly high quality standards and driving efficiency gains in your test campaigns. You will share in the teams impact on manufacturing, testing, and delivering hardware for the New Glenn Launch Vehicle.
B.S. degree or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or other relevant field. 3+ years of experience in component testing and data analysis. Candidates with multiple levels of experience are welcome to apply. Strong work ethic with a high attention to detail and level of organization. Strong written, personal, and computer skills. Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at the executive leadership level and on the shop floor. Demonstrated success working in a cross-functional environment - experience managing suppliers is a plus. Successfully managed simultaneous project schedules. Passion for spaceflight and space exploration. Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Applicable industry experience (launch vehicles, satellites, aircraft, motorsports, oil & gas). Demonstrated technical expertise in the design, operation, testing, or production of pressurized (up to 6000 psi), cryogenic, actuated, and/or hydraulic systems. Strong knowledge of fluid components such as valves, regulators, actuators, servo-valves, and fittings. Experience with sensors and instrumentation (pressure transducers, accelerometers, etc.), data acquisition, and automation systems. Familiarity with precision clean hardware and systems. Experience with Environmental Testing (proof, leak, vibration, thermal, etc.) per SMC-S-016, MIL-STD-1540 or MIL-STD-810. Demonstrated familiarity with data analysis, processing, and reduction techniques. Experience with data acquisition and automated systems.

- Can you give us an overview of the project this resource would be working on and what the day-to-day activities would look like? Working into component qualifications for the New Glenn program. Test planning, supporting test execution. Day to day will vary based on project phase. Providing expertise to external suppliers.
- Are there other positions or job titles with similar responsibilities and qualifications to the one we are hiring for in other companies? The external supplier facing role is unique. Design engineers, mechanical engineers who have worked with outside suppliers.
- Is this new headcount or a backfill? New
- How large of a team are they working on? 7 total.
- Is team currently on site, remote or combination? Combination. There is a lot of travel required for this role. Project specific by nature. Some would be going to various suppliers on test plan reviews or test readiness reviews. Could be onsite supporting test execution. Limited travel during the data review and project close out phase. Preference is a Kent based candidate.
- What does training for this role look like (if any)? OTJ. Shadowing test engineers.
- Will any of the following be required for this position: overtime, on call, weekends, off hours? All are possible. Likely required at some point but not necessarily consistently.
- Any chance the role can extend to 24 months or convert to FTE? Not currently planned, but we would be interested in retaining good talent headcount provided.

- What non-technical Skills are necessary (such as communication, problem solving, team player, i.e.)? Strong written and verbal communication skills. Someone with tact when working with suppliers. Know or learn what can and cannot be said in contracts. Mission oriented in mindset. Someone who can stay focus on the success of the project without getting frustrated with changes.
- Ideal Candidate background and how many years required?
- Confirm required education? BS.
Questions:
- Direct relevant experience? Experience running the tests is much more important than working with vendors. Working with suppliers is nice to have but is not required.
- Travel Up to 50% of the time travel. Entirely domestic travel but could be anywhere within the US.
- When they travel what will they be doing? Depends on the specific project they work on. There are two projects my team takes on. One is a support of a supplier the supplier would be conducting the qualification, we would not hands on conduct the test but oversight and recommendation, and overseeing the execution. The second type of project would be a Blue Origin owned test where we are using external to assist, sometimes we are doing the testing sometimes the test house will be completing this.
- Testing conducting physical hardware exclusively. Primarily fluids components -valves, regulators, pressure vessels.
- Aerospace or aircraft experience required? Oil and gas would be acceptable as well.
- Anyone over the two to four years experience would be too high of a level.
- Challenges team is facing? Clear definition and scope.
- ULA, Space X, Virgin in a similar role would be great to see.
