- Woodworking Machinery and Systems:Machinery and equipment for the woodworking the industry
We are a growing organization, and we are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Application Technology division. Together, with the momentum of our business vision, we can achieve international success and added innovation in all of the themes which Dürr influences at a global level.
Location: Southfield, MI
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Motivated, self-directed individual capable of executing assigned tasks and solving problems in a professional manner
- Demonstrated ability to provide project level leadership
- Selection of purchased equipment
- Development of subcontract bid package documentation
- Design fluid and pneumatic control circuits
- Manage budgets for purchased equipment and engineering labor costs
- Supervision of subcontract engineering and design engineers (CAD)
- Calculate pneumatic and fluid pressure drop and flow rates
- Create plan views, elevation and cross sections of system and equipment layouts
- Design mechanical assemblies and detail parts of assemblies for manufacture
- Create bill of materials
- Create work orders and/or purchase requests for manufacturing of assemblies and systems
- Release engineering drawings and mechanical designs
Nonessential Functions:
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering or 5 years of equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering
- 3 years of experience in industrial or automotive paint shops with robotic systems is a must
- Capable of hands-on work
- Able to read and create drawings in first angle and third angle projection
- Detail oriented
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Proficient with AutoCAD and Solidworks
- Experience with Quality Systems (e.g. ISO 9000, QS 9000, ISO 14001)
- Experience with SAP and/or other Engineering Data Management systems is preferred
- Capable of reading and creating mechanical engineering drawings and tolerance blocks
- Knowledge of RIA 15.06 Robotic Safety Standards
- Knowledgeable with ANSI standards
- Knowledgeable with OSHA standards
- Knowledgeable with GD&T
- Knowledgeable with industrial materials
- Good Technical writing and verbal communication skills.
- Willing and able to work overtime, weekends and holidays when necessary.
- Fluent in either Spanish or German is a plus

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Physical Demands: While performing duties of job, incumbent is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close and distance vision. Additionally, the incumbent will be required to:
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Climb ladders or stairs
- Stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl

Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work vary based on need. Evening and weekend work maybe required. May be required to work holidays. Overtime may be required.
Travel:
This position requires moderate travel, roughly 20%. Most of the travel can be both overnight, but may occasionally occur during the business day, and can be both local and international.
