Mechanical Process Engineer
Job Purpose:
We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Process Engineer to join our electronics manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and implementing mechanical processes and systems that enhance production efficiency, product quality, and operational safety. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that mechanical engineering principles are effectively applied in the manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate must possess ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks in a demanding environment, demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Candidate must possess good written and verbal communication skills, and be able to adapt quickly to changes, prioritize and execute multiple tasks in the fast pace environment.
Duties Include:
- Design, develop, and improve mechanical processes and systems used in the manufacturing of electronic components
- Collaborate with product development teams to ensure manufacturability and scalability of new products
- Conduct analysis of existing mechanical processes to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness
- Implement lean manufacturing principles and best practices to reduce waste and enhance productivity
- Evaluate, select, and oversee the installation of mechanical equipment and tooling used in production
- Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules and procedures for mechanical systems to ensure reliability and performance
- Provide technical support to production teams in resolving mechanical issues and process-related challenges
- Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to address mechanical failures and production downtime
- Collaborate with quality assurance teams to establish and maintain quality control standards related to mechanical processes
- Conduct inspections and tests to ensure compliance with industry standards and specifications
- Create and maintain detailed process documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process flow diagrams
- Analyze production data and prepare reports on process performance metrics, including efficiency, scrap rates, and cycle times
- Train and mentor production personnel on mechanical processes and equipment operation
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and encourage knowledge sharing among team members
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical process engineering within the electronics manufacturing industry
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes, including assembly, machining, and fabrication
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with automated assembly systems and robotics
- Familiarity with electronics industry standards and regulations (e.g., IPC, ISO)
- Project management skills or certification (e.g., PMP) is a plus
- Ability to work under pressure, self-motivated, self-starter, and eager to learn
