Mechanical Engineering Specialist (MCM USV Platform)
Job Overview: The Mechanical Engineering Specialist is responsible for providing technical expertise and guidance in the field of mechanical engineering for the MCM USV platform. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining mechanical systems and components for the USV, including engines, propulsion systems, ventilation systems, and auxiliary machinery. The specialist works collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure the integration and optimization of mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain mechanical systems and components for the USV, such as engines, propulsion systems, ventilation systems, and auxiliary machinery.
- Collaborate with naval architects, electrical engineers, and project managers to ensure the integration and optimization of mechanical systems.
- Conduct feasibility studies and perform calculations to support design decisions.
- Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create detailed mechanical designs and specifications.
- Conduct performance analyses and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
- Recommend improvements to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and safety of marine mechanical systems.
- Stay up-to-date with industry standards, regulations, and emerging technologies.
- Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of marine engineering practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 2 years supporting or working on unmanned crafts or autonomy programs.
- Experience with US Navy or government programs is desired.
- Proficiency in CAD software and mechanical design tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to marine mechanical systems.
Skills:
- Expertise in designing and developing mechanical systems for marine applications.
- Ability to perform detailed mechanical calculations and feasibility studies.
- Proficiency in CAD software for creating mechanical designs and specifications.
