Position Summary
This position manages the Mechanical Engineering group that is responsible for designing chassis, parts, tools, or other mechanical equipment and industrial processes. This role designs, scopes, and develops new mechanical engineering initiatives and projects, and manages them through their life cycles. The Mechanical Engineering Manager helps establish programs to support training, process improvements, and the creation and maintenance of best practices and protocols.Supervisory Responsibilities
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new engineering staff for Mechanical Engineering group.
- Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Prepares and executes departmental budget.
Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:- Leads and coordinates the designs for company products.
- Ensures team works with a design team to create design sketches, layouts, and plans.
- Facilitates communication among clients/customers and engineers, ensuring specifications, budgets, and deadlines are clearly communicated and understood.
- Serves as project manager for multiple projects, creating timelines and cost projections, organizing collaborative meetings, and ensuring projects comply with specifications, timelines, and budgets.
- Establishes, implements, and maintains administrative policies, procedures, and standards.
- Prepares and executes departmental budget.
- Reviews models and prototypes of the product and tests the design.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
- 10 or more years’ of mechanical engineering experience.
- Experience managing and/or leading a group of engineers.
- Experience using SolidWorks.
- Experience with Environmental design parameters (shock, vibration, thermal)
- Exceptional technical and problem-solving skills and reasoning ability.
- Understanding of engineering workflows for ECO’s, ECR’s and effectivity of changes.
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly.
- Have exceptional technical writing skills.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.

The employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. Frequently required prolonged periods in stationary position at a desk entering text or data into a computer or other machine by means of a traditional keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to move, position self, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally transport up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less (i.e., working with small objects or reading small print), including use of computers, far visual acuity, and peripheral vision. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
Salary Range$145,000-$165,000 per year
However, Innoflight considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills. Employees may be eligible for profit sharing and discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
