Position Summary:
Provide engineering design for AMF Bakery System's products. This includes current standard machines/systems, custom products, legacy products and sales support. This position is responsible for hardware design for machine for assigned AMF projects. Working in conjunction with the Controls Specialist to issue, maintain, and update project related documentation. Responsibilities include BOM completion, all drafting, installation support, and project scope.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
The majority of workload in engineering consists of the following but is not limited to the following all of which need to be clear, complete and concise:

Engineering 80%
- For projects assigned, the Mechanical Engineer is responsible from concept to completion. The design and components are to be in accordance with AMF Standards.
- Machine design package including all CAD details and component drawings.
- Assemble complete and accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for the Machine/System design.
- Design and develop Machine/System in accordance to AMF and Customer Specifications and Scope of Work.
- Design and develop Machine/Systems per solutions outlined by applications and or sales.
Installation 10%
- Provide field service technicians remote support during system service calls, installation and commissioning.
- When required provide on-site troubleshooting and startup support.
R&D/VAVE/SDP 10%
- Support activities involving R&D as assigned.
- Conduct VAVE (Value Add/Value Engineer).
- Engage and promote Strategic activities as assigned.
- Provide other duties as assigned by Senior Engineering staff.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Proficient in use of AutoCad to design mechanical systems.
- 3D modeling experience (Soldworks or Solidedge) a plus.
- Moderate Project management skills
- Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills
- Competency with Allen Bradley PLC hardware and software a plus.
- Competency with Allen Bradley Operator Interface hardware.
- Ability to understand and design electrical control schematic diagrams
- Ability to specify, assist with installation, debug and start-up of mechanical issues.
- Be able to understand machine functions mechanically.
- Be able to apply electrical components to a control system to make the machine run as designed.
- Understand and have the capability to apply electrical codes and regulations such as NFPA 70, NFPA 79 and UL 508a as well as agency approvals to control systems manufactured at AMF a plus.
- Understand, design and practice machine safety
- Problem Solving techniques
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access and Project
- A "self-starter" requiring minimal direct supervision but a team player
- Have good communication skills
- Ability to work well with others and project a good image for AMF.
Supervision Received:
This position reports directly to the Senior Engineer. This position works with minimal to moderate amount of supervision.
Supervision Given:
This position does not directly supervise others. However, it does provide guidance and engineering direction to Engineers, Controls Specialists, Assembly, Field Service and Sales.
Minimum Education Level:
This position requires a BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field. A combination of an AA degree and a minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
