Our Construction Management team is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer/Inspector for work on various Infrastructure/Transit projects. This position will report to the Lead Mechanical Engineer and will require at least 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, inspection, and commissioning of transportation facilities and/or other building systems.
Responsibilities:- Conduct mechanical systems design including, but not limited to, HVAC/R, pump systems, boilers, duct design, airflow distribution and balancing, etc.
- Review mechanical systems plans, shop drawings and approved submittals for design and construction.
- Perform mechanical systems inspections of contractor operations for conformance to plans, proposals and specifications.
- Perform mechanical systems and equipment testing. Ensure compliance with approved equipment/specs.
- Reviewing site conditions, and equipment installation.
- Write detailed daily inspection reports including in site measurements, as-built sketches, quantity calculations and tracking of manpower/resources.
- Advise senior staff of potential deficiencies in field conditions and overruns.
- Willingness to work in a variety of weather conditions.
- Scheduled shifts may vary and may include nights and weekend work.
- Assist in change orders negotiations with contractors if required.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in design and inspection of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) facilities-related projects.
- Experience with NYC Municipalities preferred.
- Considerable knowledge of construction materials and methods required.
- Ability to read plans/specs and prepare written contract administration documentation such as daily narratives (work reports), controlled inspection reports, daily time and material records.
- Must be able to document unit price work, keep track of work in place totals for all items of work including contract work, unit price work, extra work, and time and material work on a daily basis.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite particularly Word, Excel and Site Manager.
- Reliable transportation required and ability to commute to project sites.
