Job Description:
- Should be able to perform simple mechanical bench (bending) and coupon tets (tensile)
- This is generally ok but it would be better if they have more intermediate/advanced experience, as that would let them better understand the physical testing requirements to build correlation. so good testing background is required.
- We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in product design using FEA and testing, particularly within the High-Tech and Aerospace industries.
- The successful candidate will play a critical role in the Product Development Group, liaising with Mechanical Design and the Simulation teams and contributing to the validation, design, and testing of complex electronic devices and Client augmented reality wearable products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Testing and Product Development: Conduct bending tests, coupon tests, and other relevant tests to validate product performance and characterize material response.
- Complex Component Testing: Proficiently work with various materials, including a mix of metals and plastics, adhesively bonded products, to assess product reliability.
- Design Engineering: Apply design engineering principles, including Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), and 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD), to optimize product designs.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve engineering and design issues as they arise during the development process.
- Result Interpretation: Analyze test results and collaborate with simulation experts to bridge the gap between simulations and physical tests.
- Simulation Understanding: FEA experience using Abaqus.
- SolidWorks Expertise: Proficiency in SolidWorks is a plus, enabling you to contribute to product design and engineering drawings.
- Teamwork and Problem Solving: Collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams, contributing your problem-solving skills to overcome challenges.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on testing, product development, and design.
- Experience in engineering drawings, test requirements, and 3D CAD modeling.
- Understanding of simulations and their role in product development.
- Industry focus on High-Tech and Aerospace is a plus—familiarity with materials used in these industries, including a mix of metals and plastics.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks is advantageous.
- Understanding of simulation softwares such as Abaqus is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret and communicate test results effectively. • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective teamwork.
- Willing to travel or relocate to Southern California.
