About the Job
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the conceptual engineering, design, and detailing of advanced automated assembly stations.
- Create comprehensive mechanical design deliverables, including assembly drawings, bills of material, detailed drawings, station descriptions, and I/O designations.
- Actively participate in internal and customer reviews as required.
- Calculate and document station cycle times to ensure efficiency.
- Provide design-related information to support the machine build process during purchasing, manufacturing, assembly, and debugging phases.
- Self-manage tasks while assisting team members by:
- Maintaining awareness of scheduling and budgetary requirements.
- Reviewing design input information such as technical specifications, costs, schedules, and customer parts.
- Collaborating with Project Engineers to review technical and budgetary details.
- Preparing test plans and conducting risk analyses.
- Managing vendor communications and requests for quotations.
- Supporting Project Engineers with project-level responsibilities.
- Execute critical design tasks for test systems when necessary.
- Update and refine documentation to aid in the creation of machine manuals.
- Support Applications Engineering and Sales during the development of quotations and technical specifications.
- Assist in the creation and improvement of mechanical design standards.
- Work with Customer Service to provide support for Field Engineering tasks when needed.
- Contribute to projects driven by Project Engineers or Engineering Management to align with organizational objectives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in automation design.
- Expertise in automation design with an emphasis on mechanical systems, sensor specification, and control systems.
- Proficient in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) and Microsoft Office applications.
- Understanding of MRP system processes.
- Ability to perform advanced mechanical engineering computations and tolerance stack-up analyses.
- In-depth knowledge of ISO procedures applicable to both department and company operations.
- Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Salary Range: $75,000-100,000
