Mechanical Engineer
Scope:
Negotiate/collaborate cross functionally with multiple departments Industrial design, product design/integrity, EE, manufacturing, SW and Tech groups to refine/execute the vision for the product.
Develop tech knowledge in areas outside your areas of expertise to understand other teams' design constraints & craft creative solutions to tech problems.
Collaborate with outside vendors & internal manufacturing experts in order to optimize designs for function, aesthetic & manufacturability.
Utilize 2D & 3D CAD in order to communicate design intent/inspection requirements.
Ensure fit/form/function throughout the life of the product through stress/tolerance analysis, DFMEA, prototyping, testing, & failure analysis.
Required:
CAD Skills: 3D CAD experience required - NX preferred, 2D drafting & GD&T preferred.
Mechanical intuition, spatial reasoning, creative problem solving, overcoming design challenges, attentive to detail.
Strong Engineering Fundamentals: Statics, strength of materials, statistics, material science.
Flexible design abilities and knowledge: tolerance analysis, design for assembly & manufacturability, electro-mechanical integration, design for high volume manufacturing, simple fixture design, initial product layouts, understanding of Statistical Process Controls (SPC), understanding of metrology (basic knowledge of measurement systems), mechanism design.
Good communication skills.
Pluses:
Experience in the design cycle from concept all the way through manufacturing is a plus.
Experience designing mechanical components for high volume manufacturing is a plus - especially injection molded parts, sheet metal components, die-cast & machined parts.
Estimated Min Rate: $45.00
Estimated Max Rate: $80.00
