We have an opening for a Mechanical Engineer in Orlando, FL. This role involves mechanical engineering for large-scale projects, including mechanical system design, analysis, and installation.
Responsibilities:
- Manage mechanical system design from scratch, including stress and fatigue analysis, load calculations, material stress design, failure and effects analysis, and risk assessment.
- Design, develop, and implement integrated mechanical assembly systems to meet process requirements while complying with local and government design codes.
- Analyze system designs for hazard analysis development and mitigation.
- Understand and optimize Class 1 parts to minimize single points of failure and ensure system reliability.
- Develop documentation for system configuration and design, including operational theories, detailed design descriptions, test plans, and maintenance/job plans.
- Create mechanical design drawings and assembly instructions using AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
- Design and troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic control systems.
- Perform system analysis and calculations, including stress, fatigue, reliability, life expectancy, and tolerance studies.
- Apply knowledge of ride system design requirements for attractions, including guest accelerations, reach envelopes, and emergency evacuation analysis.
- Assist with system start-up, debugging, and documentation development.
- Lead system integration projects for clients in entertainment and manufacturing industries.
- Act as technical lead on projects, guiding engineers, technicians, and contractors.
- Serve as Project Manager for smaller projects ($50k to $250k), including developing and executing implementation plans, assigning work, and managing project deadlines and budgets.
- Handle purchasing, subcontractor requirements, and proposal development for change orders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical systems, stress analysis, and amusement ride safety standards (ASTM Standards).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of contract documents, field data collection, system design functions, and project management.
- Ability to plan, solve problems, and make timely decisions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Office environments.
Travel: Ability to travel up to 35%.
Physical Demands: Includes seeing, color perception, hearing, clear speech, manual dexterity, driving, lifting, climbing, pushing, and pulling.
Working Environment/Conditions: Standard office, on-site, and diverse industrial environments. Frequent PC usage, fax machines, copy machines, and phones.
