POSITION SUMMARY:
The Mechanical Engineer is capable of researching, planning, and designing mechanical and electromechanical products and systems, leads and coordinates activities involved in design, documentation, drawings, fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems.
KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Work with Application and Sustaining teams providing mechanical design support on developing custom solutions and modifications based off standard product lines from input of customers, sales and marketing groups.
- Work with members of New Product Development team providing the mechanical design support for release of new products.
- Researches and analyzes data such as customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
- Lead, coordinate and participate in the building and testing of prototypes.
- Perform design verification and validation testing to ensure design meets specifications.
- Interpret the agency certification requirements and the impact of these requirements to the designs.
- Assist with product introductions into manufacturing, supporting material sourcing and production departments.
- Evaluate non-conformances in production to determine root cause and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate quality issue resolutions through management, manufacturing and quality departments.
- Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
REQUIREMENTS FOR CONSIDERATION:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, BSME.
- Able to work in a small team environment.
- Knowledge with MS office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), 3D CAD (Solidworks preferred), and other engineering software applications.
- Excellent communication skills, written and oral, as well as exceptional design documentation and project organizational skills.
- Self-motivated, able to work under little supervision, able to adapt to changing priorities, design requirements and easily transition between projects to meet department objectives.
- Able to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, colleagues and members of the business community when required.
- Able to calculate figures and amounts using basic mathematics.
- Able to define basic problems, conduct tests & experiments, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and create reports.
- Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
