We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our Building Design Group in our Fairfax, VA office. As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you will be a key player in completing the design and construction administration for small to medium-sized projects, as well as collaborating within larger design teams for substantial projects. We are looking for a highly experienced mechanical engineer with in-depth knowledge of various mechanical system designs, including DX packaged systems, hydronic systems, chilled water plants, heating water plants, and plumbing.
Responsibilities:
- Construction Documentation: Develop plans, sections, schedules, details, controls, cost estimates, and specifications for mechanical systems.
- Engineering Design Analysis: Conduct mechanical system selection, energy and life cycle cost analysis, and ensure designs meet energy and sustainable design targets.
- Team Engagement: .Coordinate with other disciplines and project stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
- Technical Expertise: Develop control strategies, calculations, system concepts, layouts, and designs.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical support to junior engineers and staff members, fostering their professional growth.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or architectural engineering or related field from an ABET accredited program. Master's degree preferred.
- 11 - 15 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in the consulting industry.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in the commonwealth of Virginia or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
- Proficient knowledge of a variety of mechanical system designs, including DX packaged systems, hydronic systems, chilled water plants, heating water plants, and plumbing.
- Proficiency in relevant software tools, such as AutoCAD, Revit, and HVAC design software.
- Familiarity with relevant codes and guidelines.
- Experience in sustainable design practices.
- Excellent interdisciplinary coordination skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- US Citizenship required
