About the Job
We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer III for our client located in Western MA. In this role, you will report to the Studio Leader and apply your technical knowledge to produce high-quality, timely work. As a Mechanical Engineer III, you will play a crucial role in the design, development, and implementation of engineering projects. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, provide support to teammates, and contribute to innovative solutions that meet both technical and business objectives.

Job Duties
Technical
- Understands advanced engineering principles, material properties, and other applicable engineering concepts.
- Maintains knowledge of all applicable codes, safety requirements, and other standards.
- Under the supervision of a licensed professional, prepares working drawings and specifications, and performs detailed calculations for projects of increasing difficulty.
- Prepares/reviews/ approves technical reports prepared by Engineer I and II.
- Is proficient in utilizing relevant design and analytical software.
- Takes a lead role in coordinating with multidiscipline teams.
- Proficient in communicating technical concepts, both verbally and in written form.
Project Management
- In collaboration with other team members, provides technical expertise and advises client on best solutions and recommendations in design.
- Understands the scope of services as outlined in project contract and identifies when/if client requests are out of scope.
- In collaboration with other team members, understands client needs and analyzes constraints in project schedule, scope, and budget to add value through proposed solutions.
- Monitors project deadlines as it relates to deliverables within ones' responsibilities.
- In collaboration with other team members, leverages combined knowledge of the planning, design delivery, and construction completion to make informed recommendations to the client.
- Directs staff towards project milestones.
- Asks thoughtful, relevant, and open-ended questions to better understand clients' needs. Actively listens to develop rapport.
- Visits project sites, attends meetings with clients, architects and engineers.
- Prepare status updates on assigned tasks.
Business Development
- Connect locally with relevant networks to build a network of professional connections.
- Leverages professional networks to maintain relevant knowledge expected from the client.
- Work with junior technical staff in the development of technical documentation for proposals and presentations.
Leadership/Management
- Support other Engineering staff with technical questions and meeting deadlines, communicating any concerns or challenges to leadership.
- Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and provide a high quality of customer service.
- Maintains a people first approach and entrepreneurial initiative. Developing an understanding of risk management and business impact when implementing process improvement.
- Understands how work impacts the larger goals/strategic initiatives of the firm.
- Continues education to remain competitive with the latest technologies and practices. Trains newly hired staff and assists with the development of staff through day-to-day interactions and informal mentorship.
Financial Acumen
- Understands accurate timekeeping and the importance for project performance and budgets. Assist management with monitoring due dates and utilization of resources with the goal of project profitability. Approves timesheets, expense accounts and billing.
- Understands how much time is available to complete each project.
Client Service
- Interact professionally both internally and externally.
- Exhibits a balance of self-confidence and humility. Cultivates and gains trust through active listening and being a team player.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of experience preferred.
- Engineer in Training
- Ability to use Engineering software and Microsoft Suite products.
- Ability to travel occasionally
