Job Description
Summary
Perform engineering duties, under the direction of a Project Manager, in planning, designing, and optimizing mechanical systems. Participate and lead the scoping, design, installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment related to centralized heat, oil, gas, water, and steam systems.
Essential Job Functions
Engineering & Design
- Manage and coordinate project tasks to meet deadlines and deliverables.
- Perform calculations and analysis for piping, pumps, compressors, valves, tanks, and vessels.
- Select appropriate materials based on design requirements and constraints.
- Stay informed about advancements in engineering, product specs, and regulatory requirements.
- Recommend design modifications to eliminate waste or system malfunctions.
- Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation.
- Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
- Prepare and review engineering drawings, technical specifications, and engineering cost estimates.
- Generate reports to address client needs based on thorough engineering analysis, detailed research of industry standards, and knowledge of regulatory requirements.
- Participate in the development of project parameters, plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Incorporate design change based on feedback and testing results.
- Analyze performance data to identify areas for improvement.
Communication & Collaborative Support
- Coordinate with other disciplines, such as civil, structural, electrical, and environmental engineering, to ensure the integration and compatibility of mechanical systems and equipment.
- Work with mechanical design team to prepare drawing packages that meet client-specific requirements and DPSI standards.
- Monitor and track project progress, ensuring adherence to timelines and milestones.
- Interface with clients and contractors, and manage expectations to ensure satisfaction.
- Communicate project progress to team members and stakeholders.
Quality Assurance
- Adhere to industry standards, regulation, and internal quality control measures.
- Conduct design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Team Leadership
- Participate and lead teams to develop engineered solutions to client requests.
Requirements
Experience Required
- 8+ years of experience in the oil and gas, water infrastructure or pipelines.
- CAD familiarity
- MEP experience is a plus
Education Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License is preferred.
