Vicarious Surgical is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to join our team in Waltham, MA. This role will be tasked with supporting mechanical development of equipment associated with our surgical robot.
Vicarious Surgical is a next generation robotics company developing a disruptive technology with the goal of increasing the efficiency of surgical procedure, improving patient outcomes, and reducing healthcare costs.

Responsibilities
- Participate in all phases of product development, including but not limited to requirements definition, concept generation, detailed design, manufacturing process development, assembly, integration, verification, and validation testing
- Manage a moderate scope of work including ownership of some subsystems within a larger piece of equipment
- Understand, analyze, and suggest design improvements to existing prototypes
- Help develop and execute comprehensive verification and validation strategies at the subsystem and system level
- Work with internal and external resource to produce highly functional prototypes
- Be a helpful, collaborative team member
Skills Needed
- Familiarity with electromechanical design
- Proficiency with solid modeling required, Solidworks preferred, FEA experience and complex surface modeling nice to have
- Ability to interact effectively with multiple stakeholders required
- Ability to produce, review and understand engineering drawings, GD&T and tolerance analyses required
- Understanding of Design for Manufacturing, Design for Inspection, and various assembly techniques required
- Comfort with and understanding of the interplay between various components of a complex, electromechanical system and collaboration with multiple functional groups desired
- Experience with medical device product development / CFR 21 Part 820 design controls, IEC 60601 and the 510(k) submission process preferred
- Prior experience with test strategies to advance from prototypes to finished products helpful
- Sheet Metal and electrical enclosure experience helpful
- Ability to work independently and autonomously when necessary
- Ability to effectively communicate ideas and give/receive constructive feedback
- Prior experience working on a Robotics Systems and/or human input devices is a plus
About You
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 4 + years experience with Bachelor's Degree
- 2 + years experience with Master's Degree
