About the Job
• Perform all functions in a safe manner adhering to established policies and procedures
• Projects and assignments are typically medium complexity where precedents exist conducted under medium supervision
• Project management of medium sized teams and projects
• Research / evaluate proposals, cost implications, feasibility, etc for potential projects, and make recommendations
• Evaluate, define, and author specifications for new product designs
• Design or modify products by researching / recommending parts and assemblies
• Create solid models of parts and assemblies, generate drawings and bill of material (BOM)
• Actively participate in or lead design discussions and propose ideas for superior product designs
• Assemble / build prototypes. Make, modify, procure parts as needed.
• Create verification test plans and/or conduct testing. Contribute to the creation of validation test plans. Interpret test results and create test reports.
• Provide support to other departments or customers to resolve technically complex issues as needed
• Create / modify, or assist in the creation / modification of, work instructions, technical manuals, etc requiring Engineering input
• Possess a working understanding of the operating principles of Alpha Technologies' products
• Participate in process improvement initiatives
• Complete sustaining engineering tasks such as product change notices (PCN's)
• Work in cross functional teams and provide technical support to other engineering groups, other departments, vendors, and customers
• Work in highly collaborative inter-disciplinary team consisting of mechanical, electrical, and firmware engineers
EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE - QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required. An equivalent amount of experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree may be considered
• 3-7 years of Mechanical Engineering experience required
• 5+ years of experience with CAD modeling and drawing creation required. Experience with FEA preferred.
• Experience with machine design and/or automation systems preferred
• Lean / Six Sigma experience (Yellow Belt) with certification preferred
• Experience working in the rubber and/or plastic industry, or physical testing of rubber and/or plastic in another industry, beneficial
• Self-motivated, self-directed, good communication skills (written and oral), excellent teamwork skills
• Desire to accept new challenges and learn new tasks to grow professionally
