Job Description:
Responsibilities
" Comprehensive use of CATIA V5 to generate 3D CAD designs and 2D detail drawings.
" Ability to model a wide range of geometries from structural brackets to complex piping, to cast and molded components.
" Ability to create 2D drawings detailing components and assemblies applying appropriate GD&T callouts, part feature tolerances, surface finishes, material specifications, heat treatment, test specifications, and inspection requirements.
" Use technical expertise to generate creative and innovative solutions overcoming design issues/obstacles.
" Check 3D CAD within the master assembly to verify a components fit/function and ensure appropriate clearances have been maintained with neighboring components.
" Interface regularly with other design personnel to understand the component design intent, fit, function, and manufacturing/assembly considerations.
" Review manufacturing feasibility with design engineers, manufacturing/assembly personnel, and component suppliers.
" Interface with internal manufacturing/assembly personnel and component suppliers to understand different manufacturing processes and limitations.
" Generate and maintain bill of materials for assigned sub-systems.
" Perform critical stack-up and positional tolerance calculations as required.
" Update and maintain the CAD data for assigned components and assemblies within Teamcenter.
" Participate in CAD design review meetings to identify and communicate any component interface issues.
" Create/update required quality documentation for component designs.
" Create/update design review presentations and system assembly work instructions.
" Participate in and provide weekly project status update.
Qualifications
" Minimum of 10 years of experience creating component and assembly drawings with 3D CAD software and 2D detailed drawings.
" Bachelor's degree in engineering or 15 years of documented design experience
" Working knowledge of Catia V5 creating 3D models and drawings
" Working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards
" Experience in the design of sheet metal, weldments, and machined components.
" Knowledge of prototype and mass production manufacturing processes.
" Must be goal oriented, highly effective, and cognizant to achieve project milestones.
" Design for manufacturing/assembly/service
Preferred Qualifications
" Bachelor of Science in Engineering
" 5 - 10 years of experience as a CAD Design Engineer working with CATIA on fuel cell or automotive technologies.
" Prior experience and expertise with electrical drawing and schematics utilizing AutoCAD Electrical, Cadonix Arcadia Electrical Wire Harness Design software, or similar CAD and harness design software.
" Experience with automotive electrical components including electrical harness design for high & low voltage.
" Strong knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.
" Strong knowledge of Catia V5 creating 3D models and drawings.
" Knowledge of working within Teamcenter PLM system and workflow release process.
" Ability to work with hands building or assembling mechanical components.
" Prior expertise maintaining large Bill of Materials with over 500-part numbers.
Work Location: 1208 E Maple Rd., Troy, MI 48083
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 hours a day.
