Description:
The Mechanical Engineer will be a key member of the team overseeing the mechanical aspects of the construction of a new power generation plant. This role involves designing, planning, and inspecting mechanical systems and components such as turbines, boilers, pumps, and heat exchangers. The engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems with other plant operations. Their work focuses on ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of the plant's mechanical infrastructure, contributing to the overall success of the project.
Responsibilities:
- Create detailed plans and designs for the plant's mechanical systems, including turbines, boilers, heat exchangers, pumps, and other mechanical equipment.
- Ensure all mechanical designs and installations adhere to safety standards and regulations, conducting risk assessments and implementing safety protocols as needed.
- Conduct inspections and tests of mechanical systems and equipment throughout the construction process to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
- Oversee the mechanical aspects of the construction project, coordinating with other engineers, contractors, and project managers to meet deadlines and budget constraints.
- Address and resolve any mechanical issues that arise during construction, optimizing system performance and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain accurate records of mechanical designs, inspections, test results, and modifications. Prepare reports on the performance, quality, and reliability of mechanical systems for project stakeholders.
- Work closely with electrical, civil, and control systems engineers to ensure cohesive integration and functionality of all plant systems.
- Assist in the selection of mechanical materials and equipment, and work with procurement teams to ensure timely delivery and quality standards are met.
- Participate in the commissioning process of mechanical systems to ensure they are installed and functioning according to specifications. Assist with the handover to the operational team.
- Ensure the mechanical components and systems meet the required quality standards, and recommend improvements as needed.
- Explore opportunities for innovative solutions and improvements in mechanical systems to enhance the plant's efficiency and performance.
- Provide guidance and training to junior engineers and team members on mechanical systems and safety practices.
Qualifications:
- Experience in mechanical design, installation, and inspection in power generation plants or similar environments.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical safety standards and regulations.
- Proven experience with project management and overseeing construction projects.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and 3 years of experience.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Employment (W2) and Professional Services Contract (480) available.
- Support during extended hours including weekends, as per business needs.
