What You Will Do
Johnson Controls has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Compressor Engineer! This is an entry level mechanical engineering position within the centrifugal compressor engineering team based in New Freedom, PA. This position offers a great opportunity for professional growth and advancement. Duties require applying mechanical engineering fundamentals to the design, development, analysis, and testing of rotating machinery and sub-components. A major focus of activities will be on cost reductions, performance improvements, and enhanced reliability of new and existing products. This position reports to the compressor engineering manager and will collaborate closely with a multi-functional technical team to support overall product development initiatives. In addition, the successful candidate will benefit from close professional collaboration with highly experienced senior engineers and staff within the department.
This role will primarily be focused on large centrifugal compressors for York brand water cooled and air cooled chillers.
How you will do it
Take direction from manager and senior mechanical engineers
Provide guidance to test operators and interface with compressor technicians
Perform data collection and analysis
Work collaboratively with other JCI engineering groups to develop new products
Interface with product managers, project managers, product technical support associates, and multiple international manufacturing plants
Assist in various assigned projects within the compressor engineering department as necessary
Understand and follow all relative safety procedures and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment
Must be able to work 40 hours a week at our JADEC office in New Freedom, PA
What we look for
Required
BS in Mechanical Engineering
A high mechanical aptitude
Participation in a tangible senior class engineering project and/or internship experience
We are not able to provide sponsorship for this position. US citizenship/Permanent Residency is required.
Preferred
Up to 2 years of relevant industrial internship experience
