Job DescriptionAECOM has a position available for a Mechanical Engineer in Tampa, FL office. This position will work within the Building & Places (B+P) organization and will provide engineering and design in relation to Buildings, Facilities, and Site practices within B+P. Ideal candidates have a strong background and interest in vertical building development as well as the related Site development, having the ability to be part of a collaborative project team, be client-focused, and produce great works.
AECOM’s Buildings + Places practice includes architecture, interiors, building engineering, workplace strategy, master planning, urban planning, civil engineering, and landscape architecture. Our Tampa office includes all disciplines and regularly works across offices and the region.
The Mechanical Engineer position presents an opportunity for a candidate to excel in their career and develop expertise and contribute to growing our Mechanical Engineering B+P team. The position will also provide for career growth opportunity in developing overall professional capabilities, including learning to lead projects and teams, client interface and relationships and developing internal network and knowledge. The job responsibilities for the position will include, but may not be limited, the following:
- Serving as a mechanical engineer on a variety of building and facility project types, including mid-to large size projects.
- Able to partner with Manager to organize workload and work both collaboratively and independently on project-specific design tasks.
- Performing quality control reviews of work developed by others.
- Providing technical input to studies and design assessments, with expertise for benefit of client and/or team.
- Respond effectively to scope, schedule, budget in working with project managers and other senior level team members.
- Using AutoCAD and Revit, as working platforms for delivering design.
- Mentoring and providing guidance to junior level staff for specific technical design aspects and professional service.
- Provide direction to prescriptive and performance-based specifications.
- Participating in development of technical proposals (including estimates for the engineering budget and schedule)
- Reviewing permitting agency/engineering standards and regulations necessary to develop proper project design and permitting applications.
- Work closely with other departments from the AECOM project team/office, including civil, building engineering, architecture, geotechnical, traffic engineers, Federal team, landscape architects, and surveyors to provide value and partner in project opportunities.
- Participating and supporting site field investigations and construction related activities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- BA/BS in Engineering plus 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- EIT (Engineer-in-Training)
- Demonstrated experience working on building and facility design projects. Including mechanical HVAC and Plumbing.
- Experience preparing calculations and design documents (reports, plans, specifications)
- Experience using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Demonstrated experience in roles/assignments supporting projects, clients, and teams.
- Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 6 years of experience in Mechanical HVAC and plumbing engineering and building development projects covering all aspects of building design – survey, design development, construction documents, construction administration, with direct experience in design and permitting of projects.
- Registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Florida
- Experience using industry software for mechanical calculations, including energy modeling with Trane Trace and/or IES.
- Experience in Mechanical engineering for HVAC design on a variety of building types for vertical and horizontal engineering.
- Experience working in large and/or complex projects/programs is beneficial, including government, civic, and transportation is beneficial.
- Experience with construction phase services for projects (field reviews, RFI and shop drawing/submittal reviews, specifications, as-builts and record drawings, etc.)
