Process Mechanical Engineer (Meat & Poultry)
Job Description
Requirements:
Education: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in an Engineering discipline.
Experience: Typically requires 5+ years of related experience or equivalent working knowledge/experience.
Professional Registration: Mandatory.
Technical Skills: Must understand the capabilities and limitations of various computer software packages and automated engineering and design equipment to effectively direct their use for diverse engineering assignments.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
Ability to walk job sites, including climbing stairs and navigating construction sites.
Travel: Up to 10% travel by both air and ground.
Work Environment: Majority of work is performed indoors with occasional site visits to projects.

Performs detailed calculations, develops specifications, and directs the preparation of working drawings, instructions, and other related documents for complex projects of large size or multiple projects.
Analyzes complex design problems requiring the development of new or improved techniques or procedures.
Consults with construction personnel concerning complex design constructability issues.
Monitors project progress for technical accuracy and adherence to schedule and budget.
Plans, organizes, and supervises design engineering activities for significant projects or multiple moderate-sized projects.
Mentors less experienced engineers and designers.
Discipline Specific Skills:
Software Proficiency: Proven proficiency in using Revit (or Plant 3D) within design projects.
Design Development:
Develops design criteria (code, functionality) for mid-size to large projects.
Creates conceptual layouts for various equipment systems, accounting for material flows, maintenance, and operational access.
Develops equipment data sheets and design specifications for process and production equipment suitable for procurement (including pumps, tanks, filters, bulk material handling equipment, conveyors, ovens/furnaces, cooling, hydraulic systems, and similar).
Technical Evaluations:
Performs technical bid tabulations for equipment and makes unit selections.
Reviews vendor submittals and drawing approval sets, leading collaboration with other in-house disciplines.
Project Coordination:
Conducts model reviews and digital walkthroughs with internal and client teams.
Performs equipment sizing calculations and pipe stress analyses.
Develops and maintains project equipment and specialty items lists.
Documentation: Works with PFDs and P&IDs, providing equipment information.
Leadership: Leads process mechanical design efforts on mid-size to large projects and collaborates with other discipline leads.
Codes and Standards Proficiency:
ASME: Boiler and Pressure Vessel (S8D1), Power (B31.1), and Process Piping (B31.3).
API: 610, 650/620.
International Building Code (IBC).
Industrial Ventilation and ASHRAE.
Software Proficiency:
Design and Review: Revit, ACC/BIM360, Plant 3D, Navisworks, Revizto, CAESAR II.
Project and Productivity: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, Procore, Bluebeam.
