SALARY RANGE: $105,000 - $135,000 USD

SUMMARY
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer that with minimal supervision, designs, develops, optimizes, and tests all aspects of mechanical components, equipment and machinery for military and commercial portable fuel cell, battery, and fuel processing projects from concept to post-launch support. Works within a multidisciplinary team, integrating fluid-mechanical and electrical subsystems with the latest technology. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge technology in the uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) space.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The following job functions are a basic requirement but are not limited to and may be assigned other duties
· Design and test products through the design, development, and validation process
· Collaborate with R&D, product development engineers, and manufacturing staff
· Manage resource allocation across multiple projects using the stage gate development process
· Mentor and train junior staff
· Compile data for technical reports to keep customers informed
· Optimize products to reduce costs and meet business targets
· Evaluate testing results and ensure compliance with regulations and quality guidelines
· Resolve product issues using root cause and corrective action processes
· Oversee the manufacture of prototype systems and transition designs to larger scale manufacturing
· Integrate manufacturability into design
· All other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS
· Track record of working hands-on to develop commercially successful products, preferably in the portable, electromechanical field
· 3+ years of managing technical product development projects and handling multiple projects
· Previous experience developing electronics enclosures that require active cooling, have user interfaces, and operate in a range of environmental conditions
· Successful application of engineering and manufacturing processes
· Worked with CAD in a product development or manufacturing environment
· Worked with parts vendors, pricing negotiation, and green technology (preferred)
· Worked with machined, metal formed and plastic components
· Bachelor’s Degree – BSME or related
· Highly competent with MS Office and other engineering software programs (such as SolidWorks)
· Working knowledge of Lean, DFMA, Six Sigma, and FMEA
· Must balance multiple projects and be comfortable reacting to changing priorities
· React to and implement changes suggested in projects to the product design. Understand customer (internal and external) needs and anticipate requests
· Define what needs to be accomplished, consistently complete tasks. Takes responsibility for resolving a problem, regardless of where it belongs
· Ability to make decisions based on incomplete data. Methodical and expedient in selecting options with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency
· Hands-on. Expands projects and tasks by encouraging exploration of new ideas that may have a positive effect on the product. Questions non-value-added work and brings forward creative, fresh, and workable ideas
· Communicate technical information with engineers, technicians, and management on a regular basis
· Works well with others. Seeks the opinions of others. Encourages individuals to work together as a team to accomplish a common goal. Shares in recognition for work well done and accepts responsibility for failure
