Mechanical Engineer - Selectek, Inc.

Job Description:

Our client is seeking a candidate experienced in mechanical design engineering to help with the design of DoD C4ISR products. These designs typically involve display monitors and computers for DoD applications, as well as cabin management and inflight entertainment systems used on private, commercial, and government executive jets.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on designer, ensuring that our client's proprietary design techniques are incorporated into all rugged products. They will also ensure the integrity of design, manufacturability, producibility, and that schedules are met.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Design mechanical parts using machined aluminum and bent metal that meet or exceed requirements.
• Create mechanical layouts and design concepts for new products using SOLIDWORKS.
  • Work with electrical engineers to ensure proper placement of components and proper routing of cable assemblies.
  • Knowledge of properties for materials such as metals, plastics, adhesives, and gaskets.
  • Knowledge of fastening hardware.
  • Experience in mechanical design for shock, vibration, and thermal management.
  • Develop detailed fabrication and assembly drawings and perform tolerance analysis.
  • Evaluate design features and mechanical fit for first article units.
• Work with the engineering team during product design, integration, and testing.
• Collaborate with the Prototype team to build product prototypes to validate designs and work instructions.
• Collaborate with other divisions and departments as necessary.
• Create cable drawings and routing.
• Create BOMs, work instructions, test procedures, and product specifications.
• Generate engineering change notices (ECNs) and review the work of peers.
• Generate project cost estimates and select components for various designs.
• Identify, recommend, and implement new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline department processes.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required:

• BS in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3+ years of relevant design experience of enclosed mechanical equipment and machined parts equipment.
• Strong experience with SOLIDWORKS and best practices for building models and maintaining libraries.
• Experience with machine shops and CNC processes.

Preferred:

• Familiarity with DoD standards and mil specs related to manufacturing products or a similar highly regulated field.
• Experience testing products to mitigate vibration and shock.

Pay: DOE $90k - 100k

Term: Direct hire

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM
