About the Job
ASI is seeking experienced mechanical drafter/CAD Designers and Operators capable of developing and updating 2D drawings and 3D CAD models to support US DoD projects in Patuxent River, MD.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and update 2D drawings and 3D CAD models
- Utilize drawing and 3D modeling standards and instructions such as MIL-STD-31000A, ASME Y.14.100-2013, NAVAIRINST 5600.14E, AS 9100D, etc.
- Provide technical direction and oversight to less experienced drafters and designers
- Rely on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals
- Utilize a wide degree of creativity and latitude in daily activities
Required Qualifications:
- 6+ years of work experience developing 2D and 3D models and drawings
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of trade or technical school, or undergraduate or military school course in drafting, mechanical drawing, or engineering drawing
- 8+ years of experience in performing the stated functions may be substituted for post-high school education/training
- Familiarity with drawing standards and instructions such as MIL-STD-31000A, ASME Y.14.100-2013, NAVAIRINST 5600.14E, etc.
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, PTC CREO, WindChill, Ansys, or similar CAD software
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Pro and Microsoft 365 applications to include, Project, Office, SharePoint, and Teams
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Drafting or Engineering Technology with 6+ years of work experience developing 2D and 3D models and drawings
- 8+ years of experience in 2D/3D drawing/model development
- Detailed understanding of drawing and modeling standards and instructions utilized by NAVAIR
- Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD
- Experience with GD&T
- Proficient with PTC CREO, WindChill, Ansys, Solid Edge, SolidWorks, Inventor, NX, and/or CATIA
- Knowledge in the application of GD&T principles (IAW ASME Y14.5-1994)
- Working knowledge of primary, secondary and systems aircraft structure
- Familiarity with maintenance and repair practices used in the aerospace industry
Work Authorization/Security Clearance:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and qualify for Secret Clearance
