Great career opportunity for a Mechanical Designer with a well established heavy machinery manufacturing company located in the Racine/Kenosha area. This will require strong experience using Solidworks. This is an on-site direct opportunity with excellent pay and benefits. Would prefer experience with heavy machinery/equipment (agriculture, automotive, machinery, rail, etc…). Mostly looking for experience in industry, ideally 5+ years of experience. A focus on weldments and weldment design.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create new and maintain existing piece part drawings, weldment drawings, assembly drawings, models, and bills of material.
- Accurately generate and process the drafting requirements of Engineering Notices as required.
- Employ instructions and generate ideas to design or modify layouts of designs for use in development of a solution of a specific problem or product need.
- Organize a personal workload of one or more projects.
- Review assigned new release and revised documents for completeness and accuracy before submittal for authorization.
- Estimate time required for drafting/modeling tasks and resources for use in developing project schedules, budgets and comply with defined critical deadlines.
- Participate in reviewing and improving designs to improve efficiency and reduce cost.
- Participate in reviewing and improving Engineering Department practices.
- Assist other company depts with Engineering drawing document matters.
- Overnight travel as necessary to support testing and analysis of prototype designs.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required Skills and Background:
- Formal drafting skills education – 2yr degree
- Competent SolidWorks for modeling and drawings.
- A focus on weldments and weldment design.
- Experience with documentation of off-highway equipment ideal
- Ability to work with technically skilled persons.
- Familiar with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and electrical drafting practices helpful.
- Effective oral and written communicator.
- Familiar with Engineering Department information systems.
- Hands on capability in shop and field environments.
