Intertek is searching for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Building & Constructionteam in our York, PA office. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in Equipment Technology!
The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for creating machine design concepts which adhere to the specific requests of both internal and external customers.
What you'll do:
- Analyzes, interprets, and recommends modifications to new or existing designs to suit international and/or special regulations
- Prepares materials needed to bring equipment designs from concept to production. This includes conceptual drawings for quotations and proposals, detailed drawings and schematics
- Plans machinery development cost estimates and develop quotation; Checks drawings and bills of material for accuracy; order materials and project management
- Prepares written documentation necessary for successful use of the equipment, including operating and maintenance instructions. and marketing materials
- Assists with start-up, troubleshooting and "debugging" of new and existing machine designs in the shop environment and operational troubleshooting for customers
- Confers with end users to develop, enhance, and/or modify equipment design
What it takes to be successful in this role:
- BS Degree from a four-year College or University or 5-7 years of related experience
- 3 years of mechanical design experience
- Ability to travel as business needs dictate
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen
- Valid driver's license and reliable driving record (required)
Preferred skills or experience
- Exposure to full range of technologies (pneumatics, hydraulics, sheet metal, structural steel, valves, frequency drives, etc.)
- Working knowledge of machining and fabrication processes
- Strong Solid Works design experience,
- High level of design creativity and problem-solving skills
