Mechanical Design Engineer

St. Louis Park, MN | Direct-hire | $80,000-$110,000 | Hybrid

Konik is partnering with a manufacturing client in the West Metro that is looking to add a Mechanical Design Engineer to their growing team. The Design Engineer will be working alongside a team of engineers, drafters, and project managers to design large industrial equipment. 

Mechanical Design Engineer Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project teams to review customer specifications, define project requirements, and facilitate streamlined project execution.
• Conduct Code Calculations to verify the integrity of tubing, piping, and drum designs, as well as welded joint configurations.
• Utilize AutoCAD 2D and 3D CAD software as needed to produce comprehensive design documents, including models, arrangements, and section views required for customer review and subsequent detailed engineering.
• Determine equipment weight and center of gravity, and draft shipping schematics.
• Assist in drafting Specifications for the integration of supplementary equipment (such as fans, duct burners, catalysts, heat exchangers, and pumps) into the overall design.
• Offer design assistance throughout equipment fabrication and installation at the job site.
• Aid in the development and upkeep of project schedules

Mechanical Design Engineer Requirements 

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant Engineering field is preferred. Equivalent combinations of professional experience and education will be considered.
• 1-3 years of related experience required; preferred experience exceeds five years.
• Proficient analytical skills essential for job performance.
• Actively participate in internal and external (e.g., customer) meetings.
• Familiarity with industrial steel equipment fabrication and industrial pressure part welding.
• Capacity to gain proficiency in ASME Section I & VIII Pressure Vessel Codes.
• Advanced proficiency in CAD (2D and/or 3D).
• Ability to efficiently utilize standard technical software for non-CAD design and office tasks, including Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
