Selectek is seeking a Design Engineer responsible for creating 3D models, drawings, and bills of materials per project specifications and requirements while utilizing company standards and construction methods.

First of three levels of design engineering. Work is primarily involved with the development or improvement of actual products or designs.

Under the direction of the Engineering and Estimating Manager, and other team members, the Design Engineer I is responsible for creating 3D models, drawings, and bills of materials per project specifications and requirements while utilizing company standards and construction methods. First of three levels of design engineering. Work is primarily involved with the development or improvement of actual products or designs.
Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the engineering team, client, and production personnel.
- Create and/or change models, drawings, and cut lists in SolidWorks with minimal assistance.
- Design with proper tolerancing.
- Execute standards throughout work and continually drive to improve current standards.
- Execute ECNs with an understanding of how requested changes affects the organization and customer.
- Make technical presentations internally and for customers.
- Establish timelines and adhere to them.
- Design retail fixtures for manufacturability and assembly processes.
- Identify and incorporate best practices that will improve productivity, efficiency, and accuracy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required:
- Associate degree in engineering field with a minimum 2 years relevant work experience, or Bachelors degree in engineering field.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation and presentation skills.
- Ability to solve problems.
- Understand material characteristics, capabilities, limitations, and applications.
- Knowledge of ERP system regarding item and BOM creation.
- Demonstrate impeccable quality in all aspects of engineering.
- Proficient in supporting multiple customers.
- Proficient in company manufacturing methods and machinery capability.
- Proficient in construction methods and design for manufacturability (DFM)/assembly (DFA).
- Proficient in standard materials.
- Proficient in calculating material yields.
- Proficient in SolidWorks.
- Must be able to operate standard office equipment such as computer, copier, scanner, telephone and be familiar with Microsoft Office.
- Able to create technical presentations internally and for customers.
