Job Summary: Designs, analyzes, tests, and validates products and subsystems for performance/reliability improvement and cost reduction. Supports manufacturing and field service for new and existing components and designs.
Job Duties:
- Supports production by diagnosing and solving problems with materials and processes to maintain or improve quality
- Leads design reviews for assigned projects and participates in reviews; works with vendors and suppliers to specify new components and select appropriate components for designs; collaborates with engineers of other disciplines to integrate components into design criteria
- Supports operations and service organizations in implementing and maintaining product through life cycle; works closely with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and supporting functions to identify and address any issues affecting productivity and quality
- Conducts testing and inspections at manufacturing and customer sites as required
- Communicates with supply chain to purchase necessary components
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- 2-4 years’ experience in design engineering within a manufacturing environment
- Competent in engineering design/CAD software; able to perform standard engineering design calculations (stress, strain, heat transfer, pipe flows, etc.)
- Knowledge of applied mechanics, vibrations, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and manufacturing techniques
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software; ability to accurately design, CAD and check a project with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in computer programs relevant to assigned position, e.g., Matlab, PSIM, PLEX, NX Unigraphics, SAP, ERP LN 10.7, BAAN ERP, FEA, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD 2D, and Progress Rails specific programs and applications
- Ability to read and understand specification and standards documents; proficient in interpreting and creating engineering drawings
- Proficient in ASME Y14 or above
- GD&T capability
- Experience with project estimating and order management
