PURPOSE: Assure safe, high quality, cost effective, environmentally responsible manufacturing of Lincoln’s welding equipment products. This can be in any of the several groups of the Manufacturing Engineering department. Work will be highly detailed development and documentation of tooling primarily for production use. They are expected to handle small to medium sized projects and day-to-day shop support with supervision. Assignments may be routine or non-routine and will typically involve a mix of tool design and hands-on activities. Larger projects and more technically challenging work will need to be supported by more experienced people inside or outside the department. Supervisors will determine the assignments. Reports directly to the Manufacturing Engineer Group Leader of assigned area.
JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)
- Support the tool room and manufacturing engineering through the development of accurate and detailed CAD models/drawings.
- Propose creative concepts and solutions to accomplish work order completion.
- Work with the tool room to process work orders effectively and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Maintain tool design procedures and standards.
- Measure or coordinate measurement of tooling that is undocumented or altered to function properly.
- Support suppliers and subsidiaries needs associated with Lincoln tooling prints.
- Identify and resolve safety and ergonomic issues related to various types of tooling.
- Identify quality improvement opportunities and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Implement process improvements and optimization using CI principles and tools.
- Identify opportunities to drive non-value added waste out of processes.
- Support the development of processes and the launching of new products.
- Production Team support.
- Cost analysis when developing tool designs or alternative concept and material proposals.
- Other assignments as assigned by the supervisor.
- Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company’s 2025 Strategy.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field.
- 5+ years experience.
- Applicable experience in Mechanical Engineering; Experiece in plastics and injection molding design preferred
- Technically proficient in Solid Edge, Solid Works or an equivalent modeling software.
- Applicable experience with the use of measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Capable of handling a variety of assignments and changing priorities.
- Ability to work effectively on the shop floor with employees and processes.
- Willing and able to perform hands-on work as required.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Good organizational skills.
- Good computer skills and proficient in Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.
- Must be self-motivated, safety and quality conscious.
- Willing and capable of working extra hours and off shifts when required.
