Selectek has an opportunity with a defense manufacturer for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join thier team. You'll play a key role in designing and developing innovative solutions for military, aerospace, and other critical applications.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop ruggedized mechanical components using SOLIDWORKS, ensuring manufacturability and adherence to proprietary design techniques.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers to seamlessly integrate components and cable assemblies within enclosed equipment.
- Possess a strong understanding of material properties, fasteners, and design principles for shock, vibration, and thermal management.
- Create detailed drawings and perform tolerance analysis for efficient fabrication and assembly.
- Partner with the engineering and prototype teams throughout the product lifecycle, from design to testing.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying and implementing new processes and technologies.
Qualifications:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering (or BSMET with strong experience considered).
- 7+ years of experience designing enclosed mechanical equipment, ideally for military, aerospace, or medical applications (commercial experience also welcome).
- Expert in SOLIDWORKS and best practices for model creation and library management.
- Familiarity with machine shops, CNC processes, and working effectively with fabrication partners.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with DoD standards and military specifications (Mil-Specs) for manufacturing.
- Proven ability to test and mitigate vibration and shock in product designs.
