As the hiring employer, we are seeking a skilled Mechanical Project Cost Engineer to support a high-profile semi-conductor manufacturing project in Sunnyvale, CA.
About the Project
This role will be embedded within a dynamic and fast-paced environment, supporting a large semi-conductor manufacturing project. This project involves advanced mechanical systems requiring precise cost analysis, forecasting, and validation to ensure alignment with project goals and client expectations.
Position Overview
The Mechanical Project Cost Engineer will report directly to the Cost Manager and collaborate with Project Managers, Construction Managers, and Superintendents. This position will focus on cost validation, forecasting, and the evaluation of subcontractor proposals to ensure fairness and accuracy. This is an on-site role based in Sunnyvale, CA.
Salary Range: $82,000 - $121,000 (DOE)
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain job cost reports, including budgets, forecasts, and contingencies.
- Track costs by bid package, field orders, and defined change categories.
- Validate subcontractor and vendor cost proposals using detailed quantity take-offs.
- Reconcile monthly project cost reports and manage cost authorization packages.
- Prepare project indicators and visual cost metrics.
- Interpret design and construction documents to assess material and labor requirements.
- Support the review and approval of change orders.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of construction estimating experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; equivalent fieldwork experience may be considered.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams).
- Experience with project management tools such as Prolog, Procore, or Primavera P6.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.
- Strong ability to interpret construction documents, specifications, and design manuals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative mindset.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with industrial and/or semiconductor manufacturing projects.
- Background in materials and methods of mechanical construction.
- Familiarity with CSI specification systems and survey theory.
- Strong time management and multitasking abilities in high-pressure environments
Physical and Mental Requirements:
This position may require periods of standing, walking, and sitting, as well as the ability to climb stairs, lift up to 20 lbs, and maintain mental alertness in a dynamic construction environment.
Benefits & Compensation
As a W2 employee of iParametrics, team members are eligible for benefits such as medical, dental and vision, and the company matching 401K plan, subject to plan terms and applicable waiting periods.
