Job Title: Mechanical Assembler - ATS
FLSA Status: Hourly Non-exempt

Reports to (Title): Area Supervisor/Manager
Brief Summary of Position:
This position involves the bench assembly of precision mechanical parts and assemblies/subassemblies
into mechanical tuners using hand tools, and small power tools. Reads blue prints, mixes epoxies, and
assembles small components. Ensures that all assemblies meet geometric specifications defined in
assembly drawings by measuring and modifying details to achieve the required specifications and this
may require shimming, trimming, lapping and re-machining surfaces to achieve specifications.
Essential Functions of the Position:
- Studies blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for building mechanical tuners.
- Using kitted parts, assembles product according to specific procedures.
- Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
- Visualizes and computes dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of assemblies, based upon specifications.
- Files, grinds, shims, and adjusts different parts to properly fit them together.
- Inspects finished assemblies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects.
- Lifts, positions, and secures machined parts on surface plates or worktables, vises, v-blocks, or angle plates.
- Verifies conformance of finished work piece to customer needs according to planning and work order.
- Troubleshoots mechanical assembly to comply with mechanical and electrical specifications.
- Complies with company quality system, including correctly completing all related documents.
- Trains other technicians on the above tasks as required.

- 2 – 5 years of mechanical assembly experience.
- Knowledge of tools and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models. Knowledge of arithmetic, geometry and their applications. Requires abilities of visualization, oral comprehension and expression, and controlling precision, typically acquired through education and significant related work experience.
