Mechanical Integrity Specialist
Trained and Certified technician using NDE equipment for testing plant equipment and piping thickness.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- N/A
Functional Areas of Responsibility
- Following current NDE standards for thickness testing.
- Walking down process area systems to capture data on fixed equipment assets on field Iso’s or P&ID’s such pressure vessels, tanks, etc.
- Identify and capture thickness data on all piping to include size, material, schedule, and insulation type.
- Understand the basic theory of operation, testing , and calibration of ultrasonic gaging equipment and accessories.
- Use of ladders or scaffold to access testing areas on equipment or piping.
- Complete the required training hours and log experience hours to meet the Austin requirements to obtain Ultrasonic thickness testing Level II certification.
- Complete data reports using the data logging function of the equipment and computer.
Qualifications Required for this Position
- Education – High school diploma GED equivalent.
- Experience - Minimum of one (1) year related experience preferred but not required. Experience in computer skills preferred.
- Ability to work well in a team and on your own in heated and cold areas outside and inside the plant areas.
- Ability to respond well to challenges and maintain a positive attitude.
- Good communication, presentation and interpersonal skills needed to interact with all areas of business and customers.
- Good analytical & technical skills are needed for all NDE development and support activities.
- Multi-tasking skills are required to manage multiple requests and various project activities.
- Excellent problem solving and time management skills
- Computer skills with the ability to work with Excel, Microsoft office, Microstation and AutoCad.
- Ability to work 40 hours and overtime at short notice when required.
- Ability to lift up to 45 lbs. when required.
