JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
The Mechanic Helper is a full-time position in our manufacturing facility. This position is a vital part of our production team. The team member filling this role is responsible for working safely and cross functionally with our team to ensure tanker trucks are loaded appropriately and timely, maintenance and repair of equipment is completed accordingly, and the compounding/mixing team member is supported.
Move tankers to loading area, safely, ensure wheels are chocked prior to loading
Transfer materials from batch tanks into the tanker trucks, ensure that hoses are connected properly
Read meter and ensure truck is loaded with correct material and volume of material
Responsible to understand safe, proper use and operation of equipment such as compressors, pumps, vacuum systems, pneumatic door opener, tanks, motors, pumps, hoses, valves, silos, forklift
Provide assistance, insight, and accountability for Safety Committee
Install, adjust, and repair production equipment and special purpose machines, test to ensure the proper functioning
Perform general repairs to plant structures
Operate a variety of hand and power tools to repair, grease, weld, cut, change parts
Keep the work area in a clean and orderly condition
Test malfunctioning machinery, determine repairs, and discuss with Plant or Site Manager for approval and repair
Observe mechanical devices and equipment and listen to sounds to determine proper functioning or identify causes of trouble
Lubricate and clean parts/replace packing and equipment to ensure proper operation
Attentive and helpful to customers
Operate mill in the absence of the full-time mill operator
Perform Quality Control when required
Follow all written and verbal instructions
Attend all safety and production trainings
Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude
Team oriented; job may include more duties than what is listed
Requirements:
High School diploma or GED
Technical or vocational school certification or equivalent in training and/or experience
Ability to read and interpret instructions and operation manuals and follow step by step instructions
Mechanical aptitude and ability are essential
Skilled in the use of hand and power tools
Understand and follow the safety rules and practices in accordance with the Company's safety manual and policies
Knowledge of hydraulics, mechanics, electricity, progressive cavity pumps, or related field preferred
Must be able to demonstrate lock-out/tag-out and confined area procedures
Must be available for Saturday work as required
Push, pull, lift up to 75 lbs independently
State issued valid Driver's License; commercial driver's license is a plus
Understanding of plant housekeeping fundamentals is essential
