Job Summary:
This is a 2nd shift, full-time Mechanic position. 2nd shift hours are typically 2:00pm to 10:30pm Monday through Friday.Individual will assist the Shop department with mechanical related issues. Individual will perform duties as in diagnosing, preventative maintenance and emergency repairs on vehicles/construction equipment in shop and in the field. Most of the time, this individual will perform these duties on their own at their own pace. Individual will need to be self-motivated and have a complete understand of time management. Individual may be required to move from one job site to another job site throughout the day. Individual could be on the road for an extended length of time.
Essential Job Functions (*=Non-essential tasks):
- Engine repair
- Tire repair
- Hydraulic system repair
- Electronic system repair
- Preventative maintenance
- Diagnostic testing
* Documentation of procedures for equipment records
* Documentation for OSHA requirements
* Assist others as needed
* Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience as a truck/equipment mechanic
- Must have working knowledge of both gas and diesel engines
- Must have experience working with all types of heavy duty trucks and construction equipment
- Must have a full set of tools
- Willingness to become a member with the local operating engineers union
Education:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent is required
- ASE Certification is a plus
- Master Certification is a plus
Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job may be considered.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems
- General knowledge of welding
- Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Dependability, organization, problem solving and adaptability skills
- Must be a team player
- Time management skills
- Proven ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines
- Ability to work effectively with minimal to no supervision
- Ability to assess problems and formulate viable solutions

Working Environment:
- Individual will be working in an shop/yard (outside) environment
- Individual will be working with internal customers (Foreman, Plant Operators, Superintendents, and Department Management)
- Individual will spend a majority of their time standing and walking
- Will need to flex hours with seasonal fluctuations
