Summary: Directs, performs, coordinates and/or oversees all aspects of plant operations, from managing production and quality control to ensuring compliance with safety regulations and facility maintenance playing a pivotal role in driving efficiency, optimizing processes, profitability and achieving production targets while maintaining the highest level of product quality and safety.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Operational Leadership:
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to the entire plant team.
- Plans, develops and/or implements corporate and strategic initiatives, policies and goals.
- Coordinates the operations of several departments including, administrative, operations, manufacturing, maintenance, procurement, shipping and receiving. Collaborates with Technical Services, Quality Control/Assurance and Human Resources departments.
- Develop and implement production plans to meet customer demand and maintain inventory levels.
- Utilizes sales forecasting, BI and ERP systems and reporting in managing production volumes.
- Oversees and reviews daily yield tests to determine accuracy and consistency to determine operational cost and market pricing for products.
- Quality Control and Assurance:
- Responsible for coordination and collaboration with plant and corporate QC/QA teams to:
- Ensure that all products meet or exceed quality and safety standards.
- Ensure implementation and maintenance of plant wide quality control procedures, GMP’s, SOP, SSOP’s and certifications.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations as well as USDA and other governmental and regulatory agencies.
- Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement and product innovation.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to food safety and workplace safety.
- Ensure development, implementation and enforcement of safety standards, protocols, and policies to minimize accidents and injuries.
- Develops and maintains relationships with federal, state and local government agencies such as OSHA, DOL, EPA, etc.
- Facility Maintenance:
- Responsible for oversight of facility maintenance team and ensures appropriate maintenance, repair and installation of all plant facilities and equipment.
- Ensures development and implementation of preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Coordinates with external contractors and vendors for specialized maintenance tasks and/or equipment purchases or maintenance requests.
- Team Management:
- Recruit, train, and manage a skilled and motivated team of administrative, operational, management and production staff.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and feedback to employees.
- Ensures team development and continuing education with management team.
- Cost Management:
- Coordinate with EVP and VP of Operations, CFO, Corporate Controller and Divisional Controller to establish annual facility budgets.
- Manage the plant's budget effectively, controlling expenses while optimizing production processes.
- Analyzes divisional and departmental budgets to identify areas and opportunities to reduce costs and improve operational efficiency.
- Supplier, Vendor and Customer Relations:
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure a consistent supply of high-quality raw materials.
- Collaborate with and support the sales team to meet customer demands and address any concerns.
- Environmental Sustainability:
- Promote sustainability initiatives within the plant, including waste reduction and energy efficiency.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices related to sustainability.

Education/Experience:
Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; 5+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be able to interface well with all employees of the Company and to represent the Company in a highly professional manner. Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Must be multi-task oriented.
Language Ability:
Ability to understand written and verbal instructions. Ability to effectively read, speak and communicate in English and ability to effectively present information verbally one-on-one and in group situations to customers, vendors and other employees. Ability to analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak Spanish is desired.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of various computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation and/or ERP software as well as the ability to type and perform 10 key by touch if germane to your position.
Certificates and Licenses:
No certifications needed. Knowledge of 5S Lean Manufacturing Principles highly desired but not required. OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 are highly desired but not required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manage several subordinate supervisors. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, growth, development, and evaluation for all related units. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, identifying continuing education opportunities and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
