Position Overview
As the Materials & Scheduling Specialist, you will assist in monitoring packaging material related activities while also assisting with coordinating production schedules.
Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities
- Develops development and manages the master production schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders.
- Assists with analysis of production specifications and plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements.
- Communicates with department managers and supervisors to determine status of production schedules.
- Assists with oversight of activities related to the procurement function.
- Assigns procurement requests to the appropriate personnel.
- Monitors quality of packaging material received from manufacturer. Works with suppliers, via Procurement, in resolving issues regarding packaging material non-conformance.
- Monitors procurement reporting systems to meet company requirements.
- Performs inventory counts, reporting, and root cause analysis for discrepancies.
- Performs close-out functions for the plant for fiscal periods.
- Assists in new product development project and works with multiple departments to ensure timely delivery of new offerings.
- Performs bill-of-material establishment, setup, and corrections for the consumption of materials to finished goods.
- Adheres to all manufacturing practices to ensure a safe, clean, and productive plant.
- Tracks key performance indicators and implement appropriate systemic corrective actions to deliver plant results.
- Identifies / Lead Continuous Improvement projects which benefit Plant operations or costs.
- Arranges for disposal of surplus materials.
- May be requested to perform different or additional duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required in related field from four-year College or University
- Two or more years of experience in a in a non-durable consumer products manufacturing environment
- Experience with Community Coffee, even if unrelated, may fulfill this requirement at the discretion of the hiring manager with approval from Human Resources.
- Certificate in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) from American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) or similar certification preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Products
- Knowledge of SAP or similar MRP process experience
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Lean or Six Sigma Certification preferred.

The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold, extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment from production machinery is usually very loud.
