JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for developing, planning, forecasting, managing, coordinating, and communicating the production schedule and long-term capacity forecasting to ensure that on-time deliveries will be achieved in accordance with customer, corporate, and financial objectives. Interact with manufacturing personnel, engineering, and the team leaders to successfully manage materials and production planning to meet sales goals. Develop and execute material pipeline savings projects. Negotiate and execute agreement with vendors/suppliers. This role will also effectively lead, develop, supervise & evaluate production planning/control, p urchasing, and shipping staff to develop teamwork and continuous service and support for manufacturing and customer service.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with executive staff, manufacturing team and engineering to ensure that procurement plans, shipping plans and production plans are aligned, stay on track, and are communicated in a timely and professional manner and ensure shipments are delivered in a timely manner.
- Responsible for directing and coordinating the activities for personnel engaged in production planning, purchasing, and shipping.
- Works with team to establish, coordinate and supervise the production schedules both short and long-term.
- Ensures the flow of materials, parts, and assemblies between or within departments.
- Implements procedures to improve quality, productivity, and efficiency.
- Review work orders to plan and schedule plant production cost-effectively, addressing customer needs.
- Coordinate with all functions to create appropriate production schedule that considers:
- Customer needs
- Plant productivity
- Availability of raw material
- Shipping options
- Cost effectiveness
- Oversee physical inventory of raw materials and finished goods.
- Responsible for inventory management of alloys and other inventory/expediting duties.
- Prepare and analyze reports to detect production problems.
- Requisition expenditures for supplies, materials, or human resources, ensuring that materials, labor, or equipment are used efficiently to meet production targets and demands.
- Attend daily production meetings to draft production commitments or timetables using sales forecasts and work in progress (WIP).
- Confer with Operation Managers to assess progress and discuss needed changes.
- Communicate with Production and Customer Service on delays, interruptions, difficulties, and reprioritization.
- Create and distribute exception reports: materials, deliveries, schedule adherence.
- Monitor and report on plant compliance with Sales plan.
- Run lead time reports, analyze data, and share with managers.
- Establish and maintain safety stock inventory levels for both finished goods and raw materials.
- Monitor contractor performance, recommending contract modifications when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor's degree in relevant field combined with a minimum of 10+ years of experience including prior management duties preferably in the manufacturing industry.
- Certifications/Licenses: N/A
- Other Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Advanced computer skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, PEI's and Work Instructions. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Advanced problem-solving skills. Mechanically inclined. Detail oriented. Safety conscious. Written and Oral Comprehension. Expert Excel skills. Knowledge of Oracle is a plus.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- Working Environment: Office environment and frequent time spent on the plant floor.
- Required PPE: PPE varies throughout the plant, check to ensure proper PPE is being used.
- Safety Glasses: Needed in all areas of the plant.
- Safety toed shoes/boots: Required in all areas on the plant floor.
