Overview:The Material Handler/Driver works daily to pick, stage and transfer material to/from production following internal processes and procedures for inventory control while adhering to safety and quality policies. Additionally, this position requires the ability to drive a transport vehicle (26,000 pounds) between company locations as needed based. Work is varied and is done under general supervision. Duties require detail orientation and initiative to acquire more complex skills with the ability to work independently.
Qualifications:EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
• Minimum 18+ years old
• 2+ years’ forklift / materials handling experience in a manufacturing environment; food & beverage manufacturing experience preferred.
• 2+ years’ driving 26,000-pound truck
• Massachusetts Resident
• Valid MA Class D license with a clean driving record
• Lawful permanent resident of the U.S. with a valid Social Security number
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Ability to meet the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) medical standards including successful drug screens
• Ability to follow work instructions, as well as Safety, Quality, and Company policies
• Ability to read, write, and speak English
• Ability to operate warehouse machinery, forklift, wave, palletizer, pallet jack and box truck
• Ability to accurately identify ingredients and needed weight from Pick Sheets.
• Ability to use a computer for data entry of production data
• Ability to visually and physically sort, count, pack, and palletize, raw materials and finished goods
• Ability to work around and with hand-held, manual, and moving equipment i.e., conveyors, case packing, pallet jacks, and other machinery including box truck.
• Ability to use a tape gun, date coder, box cutter, and other small tools
• Ability to recognize number sequences, lot numbers, date codes, and other data visually and accurately
• Ability to visually detect, identify, and effectively communicate product deviations to lead or manager
• Ability to stand on concrete floors and perform repetitive motions for extended periods of time
• Ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis and up to 50 lbs. on occasion
• Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment in accordance with Quality and Safety policies
• Ability to work independently with general supervision as well as work in a diverse, fast-paced, cross-functional team environment
• Ability to be flexible and take on assignments as required
• Ability to interact well with other staff members and in alignment with the company’s overall goals
• Ability to have a positive, can-do attitude, strong work ethic, trustworthy, and be reliable and punctual.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position works in a food manufacturing environment and requires the ability to adhere to all GMP, Food Safety, workplace safety and security policies including wearing required personal protective equipment, as well hair net, beard net, etc. as required. Additionally, this position requires driving a company leased vehicle.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to meet the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) medical standards including successful completion of required drug screens.
• Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands and fingers, walk, stand on concrete floors, regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle up to 26,000 pounds
• Ability to operate material handling equipment including a variety of forklifts
Responsibilities:
• Utilize Warehouse Management System (e.g. Fishbowl) to pick, move, and transfer materials to/ from production.
• Ensure material license plates (i.e.-labels) do have accurate information that matches physical material (i.e.- expiration, lot number, location).
• Perform system transactions in a timely and accurate way. System issues with transactions must be reported immediately.
• Follow FIFO at all times. Report issues that will impact accuracy of inventory.
• Move materials using forklift equipment following safe handling procedures.
• Accurately pick raw ingredients and packaging components needed for production.
• Supply the production team with labels, boxes, film and paper needed for daily production
• Identify expired ingredients and inform supervisor
• Maintain an organized raw ingredient, film and box warehouse
• Return unused raw ingredients and materials to proper location
• Perform item deliveries using the box truck to locations within 150 miles from Ayer
• Load/Unload box truck following standard Safety procedures
• Plan routes and delivery schedules following Transfer Order Procedures.
• Inspect truck equipment and supplies daily.
• Maintain truck logs and receipts.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times
• Completes housekeeping and sanitation duties
• Accurately completes daily production data collection forms and performs data entry
• Demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset to improve procedures and processes
• Ability to maintain company confidential data
• Other duties as assigned
