At this exciting time in our company, ABC stone has an opportunity for a Material Handler I (with Forklift Experience) to join our growing team in our Brooklyn Warehouse. This position will focus on safe and efficient movement of products and materials.
Job Summary:
Materials Handler I loads and unloads material within the warehouse. Utilizes hand trucks, forklifts, hoists, conveyors, or other handling equipment to move material to and from trucks and within the storage facility.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Works under close direction of Warehouse Supervisor
- Utilize forklift, hoists or other handling equipment to move stone slabs & crates
- Perform a variety of warehouse duties such as: pull/assemble customer orders, check outbound orders for accuracy and completeness, restock and label vendor products, maintain displays, move, store, and replenish material.
- Performs receiving duties such as receive and unload inbound material, process inbound shipments, stock material, process customer returns and notify management of damaged shipments for freight claims.
- Maintain a clean and organized facility by sweeping, trash removal, etc.
- Maintains a safe working environment by obeying all safety rules as outlined in the Safety Program and by reporting all accidents, unsafe conditions and acts to Management.
- Offload and reload the photo station with materials
- Perform other related duties as required
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of commonly used practices & procedures within the stone industry
- Ability to follow instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
- Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job
- 0-1 years general work experience
- Ability to work as a team with co-workers
- Forklift experience with certificate (preferred)
- Basic math skills
- Attention to detail
- Customer Service skills
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 0-1 year general work experience.
- Stone slab warehouse experience a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to stand, use hands and reach with hands and arms
- Required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, reach above shoulder level, fine finger dexterity
- May be required sometimes to sit, climb or balance
- Lift and or move up to 80 pounds regularly
- Required vision abilities: peripheral, and ability to adjust focus
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts
- Occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles and wide range of temperatures
- At times exposed to loud noise levels
Salary Range
$17.00 - $19.00/hour based on experience.
