Job Description
We are seeking a Shift Supervisor to oversee day shift operations at our Surprise, AZ facility. This role is pivotal in ensuring Safety, Quality, Delivery, People, and Profitability goals are achieved. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and the ability to coordinate production activities effectively. As a strategic partner in our Operations Division, the Shift Supervisor will play a key role in planning, organizing, controlling, and scheduling work while maintaining open communication between management and plant personnel.
Job Summary:
The Shift Supervisor will lead and manage production shift employees, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and quantity standards.
Reports To:
Production Manager
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Trains and supervises employees on the assigned shift.
- Oversees daily workflow and assignments.
- Provides constructive performance evaluations.
- Implements disciplinary action when necessary.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Oversees production operations on the assigned shift.
- Develops work schedules for efficient operations.
- Maintains knowledge of processes and equipment.
- Ensures accurate identification, weighing, and stocking of products.
- Troubleshoots operational issues and notifies the maintenance department of equipment problems.
- Enforces safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Ensures completion of paperwork and documentation.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Thorough understanding of production operations and machinery.
- Strong presentation, supervisory, and leadership skills.
- Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Exceptional time management and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Ethical conduct.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 2 years of steel processing experience.
- Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing/walking.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to traverse the production facility.
- Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position with generally Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. Longer hours may be required to complete projects.
Work Environment:
Office/shop environment with varying temperatures and loud noise levels. Warehouse environment.
