Material Handler/Forklift Operator - 12hr Day Shift - Intertape Polymer Group (IPG)

Position Description

Title: Material Handler/Forklift Operator

Department: PolyAir - IPG Chicago

Immediate Supervisor: Plant Supervisory Staff

Status: Hourly Union

Position Purpose: Operates Forklift on 12hr Shift

Schedule: 12 hour shift 7AM - 7:15 PM, rotating 2-2-3, 3-2-2, every other weekend

Principle Accountabilities

• Move raw materials to the production lines or proper storage areas, as required
• Stage finished product per instructions or move to warehouse storage area
• Track and sort inventory
• Ensures the accuracy of incoming and outgoing materials
• Organize assigned work areas, using lift truck or hand balm, as indicated
• Troubleshoot part issues
• Observe safe working practices
• Maintain work area in a clean and orderly manner
• Complete required paperwork
• Keep warehouse clean and neat
• Relieve in production as assigned and trained
• Other assigned duties, as required

Essential Skills and Experience

• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
• 2+ Years in a Manufacturing environment / general labor experience preferred.
• Intermediate math skills and English written communication skills necessary.
• Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours at a time required
• Ability to work in space limited work area on continuous basis.
• Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs on a consistent basis
• General computer knowledge and experience handling paperwork
• Effective interpersonal skills
• Ability to perform the physical aspects of the role following recommended practices, with an emphasis on safety and injury prevention
• Inventory experience preferred
