Material Handler / 1st shift
Metals USA has an immediate opening for a Material Handler / 1st Shift in our Oakwood, GA facility. The Material Handler / 1st shift, works under limited supervision, performing duties related to the storage and movement of inventory or equipment. The position reports to Group Leader /Shift Supervisor.
Hourly Rate: starting at $20/hr depending on experience.
* Receives and returns materials into stock inventory locations
* Tags materials for proper identification
* Pulls and assembles customer orders in order of delivery
* Operates yard truck for the purpose of loading and unloading trailers
* Operates cranes to load and unload trailers
* Operates forklift (5k or 10k) to load and unload trailers
* Loads and secures material onto truck
* Completes and production and quality paperwork; follows shop system data collection procedures.
* Performs tasks that include grinding and using an oxy fuel torch
* Maintains work areas in a clean, orderly, and safe manner, including the return of tools and equipment to designated areas.
* Assures all machine operation centers are timely loaded with material for production
* Notifies management of product discrepancies, equipment malfunctions and/or personal injuries.
* Regular and predictable attendance is required to perform the duties of a Material Handler.

* High school diploma or equivalent
* Math skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions
* Ability to understand verbal and written communication
* Proficient measuring skills and ability to read measuring tapes and micrometers
* Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and documents, blueprints
* Industrial warehouse experience
* Experience working with heavy equipment preferred
* Overhead crane or forklift experience
* Detail oriented with ability to inspect material for quality
* Must pass pre-employment drug screen
