TransitAmerica Services, Inc. is currently seeking a determined Material Control Manager in San Jose, CA to join our team.
The pay range for this position is $98,100.00 - $109,000.00.
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Manages and coordinates the distribution and supplying of materials for a wide variety of operations within a passenger rail service project.
- Provides support to operating departments in scheduling all material flow issues to meet production schedules and requirements.
- Interfaces with operating departments on the planning and forecasting of repairs, major projects and other issues impacted by material and parts stocking levels.
- Ensures adequate inventory of materials and products in accordance with inventory cycles and operational requirements.
- Conducts periodic inventory analysis to solve inventory problems.
- Develops and implements inventory control procedures
- Establish and implement methods and best practices related to the systems and process that support inventory forecasting, purchasing, and material control.
- Identify, develop and manage effective relationships with existing and potential suppliers of goods and services to meet the established quality and delivery targets.
- Adhere to established company policies, procedures, terms and conditions and legal matters that affect purchasing and inventory management policies.
- Responsible for accuracy of inventory counts by implementing and managing, in conjunction with Finance, an inventory control system, capable of identifying discrepancies in inventory counts and taking corrective action to guard against inconsistencies in the future.
- Achieve financial objectives by working with management group to prepare the materials budget, approves work orders and expenditures, analyze variances and initiate corrective actions.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by implementing, maintaining and aligning company policies that adhere to company, local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations.
- Maintain receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
- Comply with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
- Safeguard warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
- Maintain physical condition of warehouses by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.
- Lead by example and motivates people to create a challenging, empowering, and collaborative working environment
- Maintain optimal personnel levels by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
- Achieve optimal job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees while monitoring performance and providing feedback.
- Works in conjunction with the Procurement team to initiate or expedites purchase orders for material and services; arranges for submission and inspection of sample products as required; maintains close coordination with operating departments, Procurement and Material Control staff to ensure timely execution of material and services sourcing activities.
- Coordinates, as appropriate, quality matters and engineering changes/developments between company operating departments and suppliers.
- Monitors and maintains stocking levels in coordination with Material Control and other operating departments; ensures minimum stocking levels are maintained.
- Reviews and monitors purchase orders, work orders, requisitions, and receivers to ensure proper flow and documentation of material and services from procurement to receipt of material or services.
- Coordinates with Accounts Payable regarding proper billing, coding, and validation of vendor invoices versus company purchase orders.
- Ensures goods and services are obtained in an effective manner and in compliance with company policies, applicable laws, regulations, grant agreements, APTA, FTA and FRA regulations and other contractual requirements.
- Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
- Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Associate degree in business, supply chain management or related field preferred.
- Experience and knowledge of the railroad industry's concepts, practices, and procedures specifically in procurement and sourcing within a maintenance environment.
- Must have valid driver’s license
- Successful experience managing in a union environment
- 3-5 years of experience managing a successful warehouse or inventory storage facility.
- Good oral and written communication, math and negotiation skills,
- Ability to contribute to a cross functional collaborative environment.
- Ability to define problems and resolve them quickly.
- Experience in analyzing financial and technical data and an understanding of supply chain management.
- Experience in managing inventory and warehouse operations in a demanding environment.
- Advanced knowledge and operational ability regarding warehouse equipment such as overhead cranes, pallet jacks and several types of forklifts.
- Ability to work well with ever changing priorities and/or situations.
- Must be an initiative-taker who can collaborate well with people at all levels.
- Ability to read and interpret documents and to author routine reports and correspondence.
- Proficiency and advanced skills in using the Microsoft Office Suite, i.e., Excel, Outlook and MS Word.
- Proficiency and advanced skills in using and managing inventory management software
Pre-Employment Requirements:

- Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
