We are recruiting for the following position(s): Sea Mar is a mandatory COVID-19 and flu vaccine organization MAT Research Assistant - Posting #26267 Hourly Rate: $26 Annual Salary: $55,000 Position Summary: Full-time Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Co-Care Research Assistant position available for our Vancouver Medical Clinic, with travel to the other Sea Mar medical clinics in Clark County. The primary purpose of this position is to implement and manage research activities for a 2.5 year National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA)-funded study testing a collaborative care intervention for patients with polysubstance use in primary care settings. Collaborative care is a team-based approach used in primary care to treat patients with substance use disorders. This team will include primary care providers and support staff, addiction specialists, health coaches, and a nurse care manager. Research activities will evaluate the efficacy of collaborative care model. This position is based at four primary care practices near Vancouver, WA. The project is managed by Sea Mar Community Health Centers. The direct supervisor for this position is the site principal investigator, Dr. Christine Hancock. The Research Coordinator will also work with and be supported by the Sea Mar Medication Assisted Treatment Program Director, the study's local Project Manager at the University of Washington (UW), and the Project Director from the lead research team based at New York University (NYU). The Research Coordinator will regularly collaborate with and supervise a co-located Research Assistant (RA) who will also be supervised by Dr. Hancock. This position will conclude at the end of the 2.5 year study period. Responsibilities include: Research Responsibilities (75%) + Participant Recruitment: Recruits and screens patients and clinic staff for study eligibility, completing necessary questionnaires, assessments and paperwork. + Participant Consent: Thoroughly explains the study, reviews all study materials with participants, and obtains informed consent. + Research Visits: Conducts research interviews at primary care study sites. Conducts participant study visits, including scheduling, coordination with other study team members, and documentation. + Participant Tracking: Utilizes software provided by the study to track participant flow through the study and update tracking logs in an accurate and timely manner. Contacts participants to schedule them for study visits. + Data Collection and Integrity: Conducts chart reviews in the Electronic Health Record, reviews data entered by study participants, resolves data queries, and obtains missing information. Documents all data accurately and according to protocol. Confirms that all data entry is complete and correct. + Documentation: Maintains study files in accordance with federal regulations. Assures that participant and data confidentiality and integrity are maintained. + Protocol Compliance: Ensures that study activities are carried out in accordance with protocol, including but not limited to participant recruitment and screening, and participant research visits + Regulatory: Assists with preparation of research documents for institutional review boards. Assists in ensuring that Federal guidelines and requirements are met, and all work is completed in accordance with human subjects research Good Clinical Practice. + Project operations: Aids with overall project operations as needed. Communication/Presentation (15%) + Establishes and maintains positive relationships with participants and study site affiliates + Demonstrates a commitment to foster inclusiveness and diversity though interactions and communications with others. + Effectively communicates study protocol and research goals to study sites and other partners. + Contributes to and works well with the local clinic staff, regional research staff, and the Lead Study team Miscellaneous (10%) + Participates in on-going trainings and keeps abreast of developments in the field of substance use disorders. + Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: + One year of experience in health care or human services related fields. + Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and as a team member. + Meticulous attention to detail; organized, efficient, and able to handle competing priorities. + Experience communicating with and motivating diverse team members, (e.g., providers, fellow staff) Preferred qualifications: + Bachelor's degree in human services related field, or the equivalent. + Previous project-related work including prior work with individuals with substance use disorders, within medical settings/clinical settings, and/or in conducting standardized assessments. + Prior research experience and some understanding of research procedures (participant recruitment, informed consent, following a reserch protocol) . + Comfort communicating with and motivating diverse team members, (e.g., providers, fellow staff) + Experience working with diverse linguistic and cultural populations, including but not limited to proficiency in language(s) other than English. + Experience with and understanding of the impact of stigma on outcomes of patients with substance use disorders and experience with recognizing and mitigating stigma. + Experience using Epic EHR. Training: Must complete initial Training Plan consisting of assigned video and reading accompanied by discussion with Program Director and Program staff within the first 2 weeks of hire. Training plan content is directly associated with the assigned position tasks, Program philosophy and policies and general knowledge necessary for employment at Sea Mar. Must also complete basic overdose education and use of Naloxone. Additional Requirements + Pre-hire and annual employee health screening required + Annual influenza vaccine required. Only exception is for employees with a medical or religious exemption approved by Administration. Employees with an approved medical or religious exemption must wear a mask at all time during the flu season. + TB testing annually required. Condition of Employment: The Research Assistant must sign an oath of permanent confidentiality covering all patient related information and must receive a background check from the Washington State Patrol. The Nursing Manager must meet the organization's health screening requirements for tuberculosis screening and immunization status. Language Skill: Ability to read and write proficiently in English. The ability to speak and interpret in Spanish is ideal. The Nurse Care Manager must demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication. Mathematical Skill: Must be able to calculate medical dosages, i.e., mg. to ml. Should be able to analyze and present simple data as needed for reports. Reasoning Ability: The Co-Care Research Coordinator must possess the ability to solve practical problems and a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists. Must be able to make decisions independently and have a good sense of medical priority. Must be able to anticipate the needs of The patients and providers according to clinical presentation. Must be able to anticipate the needs of the clinic according to existing demands and resources and based on historical trends. Must be able to problem solve creatively in a variety of situations and circumstances. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
