The Content Specialist is responsible for developing customer and industry-facing content across multiple platforms and formats to drive brand awareness, thought leadership, leads, sales, client engagement and client retention. This person will serve as the primary content writer to support strategies and tactics outlined by annual marketing plans with a strong focus on developing content for the Intertek website, sales collateral, events, advertising campaigns, new service offerings, expert articles, internal programs, and direct marketing initiatives.
This person will work closely with the Public Relations Manager, technical experts, and business line Marketing Managers to identify areas of opportunity by monitoring trade media coverage and industry trends, and create and execute effective marketing communication content and programs that build the Intertek brand, position the company as an industry leader, and support the sales process. The ideal candidate has exceptional writing skills and expertise in finding the best opportunities to provide meaningful content at the right time, place and using the right platforms to maximize its consumption.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Mapping a content strategy that supports and extends marketing initiatives, short- and long-term, to best achieve marketing objectives
- Developing and managing an editorial/content calendar throughout the organization
- Leveraging market data to develop content themes and executing a plan to educate clients and prospects about the Intertek brand and our service portfolio
- Operating as an arbiter of best practices in grammar, messaging, writing, and style
- Ensuring consistent brand messaging across all marketing tactics and mediums
- Integrating content activities within marketing and social media campaigns; researching and refining methods for scheduling or featuring content at optimal times; defining content distribution during stages of the buying cycle to nurture leads
- Developing standards, systems and best practices for content creation, distribution, maintenance, retrieval, and repurposing that streamline the production of high-quality content; develops and manages content library and content governance process
- Conducts ongoing usability tests to gauge content effectiveness; gathers data and analytics and makes recommendations based on those results; collaborates with owners of particular content to revise and measure particular content and marketing goals
- Conceptualize compelling content that works with visual design elements to drive engagement
- Network with Intertek departments to leverage company assets and uncover opportunities to help fuel content initiatives
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Expertise in consumer product and manufacturing industries a plus
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications or Marketing
- 5 years of experience in editorial and technical writing, preferably in the business-to-business space
- Solid knowledge of marketing communications and strategies with an emphasis on association engagement and immersion
- Possesses superior interpersonal communication and management skills
- Executive level comfort in understanding the complexity of business needs and decision drivers within an organization
- Must be able to consider available facts, constraints, competitive circumstances, and probable consequences
- Well versed at connecting strategic objectives to tactical implementation
- Ability to understand market trends and customer needs
- Excellent interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to build, manage and influence virtual teams
- Comfortable managing through change and working in a fast-paced environment
