Role Overview:
As our Marketing Manager, you’ll be the driving force behind Varlo’s brand visibility and community engagement. You’ll manage our events, including expos, tradeshows, and high-profile brand activations. Additionally, you’ll leverage our professional athlete roster and community for user-generated content and grassroots campaigns. This role requires a proactive leader with a vision for growing a disruptive brand in a competitive market.
Key Responsibilities:
1 Event & Brand Activation Management
- Plan and execute brand presence at sports expos, races, and community events.
- Organize and optimize athlete appearances to enhance brand visibility.
- Develop novel marketing initiatives that resonate with athletes and the sports community.
- Collaborate with Varlo’s Professional Roster: Partner closely with our roster of elite athletes to create genuine, impactful brand moments that reflect their journey, achievements, and connection to Varlo. This includes working with athletes to document training, racing, and behind-the-scenes content that resonates with our audience and builds Varlo’s credibility in the endurance sports community.
- Develop User-Generated Content (UGC) Strategies: Design and implement user-generated content initiatives to engage our growing community of Varlo athletes and supporters: This includes launching ambassador programs, promoting community-driven challenges, and highlighting customer stories across social media. Create opportunities for user content sharing through contests, hashtag campaigns, and user spotlights, positioning Varlo as a lifestyle brand that celebrates athletic perseverance and passion.
- Ambassador Programs & Community Engagement: Build and manage Varlo’s ambassador programs to connect deeply with passionate athletes who represent our values. From onboarding and mentoring ambassadors to providing regular content prompts, you’ll create a network of advocates who amplify Varlo’s reach. Leverage community features, such as dedicated ambassador highlights, Q&As, and social media takeovers, to provide a platform for ambassadors and strengthen community ties.
- Content Sharing & Storytelling: Drive the storytelling efforts behind Varlo’s core mission, utilizing user-generated content as a way to authentically connect with our audience. Collaborate with athletes and community members to gather inspiring testimonials, stories, and experiences that showcase the spirit of endurance sports. Implement processes to seamlessly integrate user content across multiple channels, from social media to email marketing, to ensure a consistent and relatable brand voice.
3 Social Media & Digital Marketing
- Lead social media strategy and execution across all major platforms.
- Drive storytelling through real-time and scheduled content aligned with our brand voice.
- Develop engagement-focused campaigns to boost brand interaction and community loyalty.
- Oversee End-to-End Email Marketing Strategies: Lead the development and execution of comprehensive email marketing strategies aimed at reaching and expanding our consumer base. This includes creating segmented and targeted campaigns that align with the product lifecycle—from new product launches to seasonal promotions—ensuring that every touchpoint reflects Varlo’s commitment to performance and style.
- Leverage Data Analytics for Personalization & Optimization: Use data analytics to gain insights into consumer behavior and engagement patterns, enabling precise personalization of email outreach. Develop and refine customer segments to deliver relevant, impactful content that speaks to each athlete's unique journey. Continuously monitor and optimize email performance to increase engagement, conversion, and loyalty, ensuring the highest return on investment for our marketing efforts.
- Collaborate on Product Marketing Campaigns: Work closely with product development, creative, and sales teams to craft campaigns that showcase Varlo’s newest products and seasonal lines. Take the lead on crafting and executing go-to-market plans for new product releases, highlighting product features, performance benefits, and athlete insights. Develop campaigns that amplify the story behind each product, driving excitement and awareness within the Varlo community and beyond.
- Deliver High-Impact, Visually Compelling Digital Assets: Collaborate with the creative team to produce digital assets that capture the spirit of the Varlo brand and communicate the value of our products. From eye-catching email designs to product-centric social media content, ensure all visuals are aligned with our brand aesthetic and speak directly to our target audience. Develop visual storytelling campaigns around key product features and benefits to highlight Varlo’s unique position in the market.
- Drive Cross-Channel Digital Engagement: Develop a cohesive digital engagement strategy that integrates email marketing with social media, website, and in-app messaging to create a seamless experience for Varlo customers. Coordinate product marketing efforts across channels, ensuring that every new release or promotion has a unified and consistent message. Leverage A/B testing, customer feedback, and data analysis to continually refine digital campaigns, maximizing impact across all touchpoints.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree: Required in Marketing, Sports Management, Communications, or a related field. Additional certifications in sports marketing or digital marketing are a plus.
- Marketing Experience (4+ Years): At least 4 years of experience in sports, lifestyle, or fashion marketing, with a strong focus on triathlon, cycling, or running. This background is essential to understanding our community and audience.
- Industry Knowledge & Passion: We seek candidates who live and breathe endurance sports. Direct experience working with products or brands in triathlon, cycling, or running is critical, including managing campaigns for related apparel, equipment, events, or athlete partnerships.
- Product Marketing & Collaboration: Proven experience in product marketing for sports brands, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams. Skill in developing go-to-market strategies and communicating performance benefits is key.
- Community Engagement & Athlete Relations: Experience in athlete partnerships, ambassador programs, or UGC initiatives in endurance sports is required. Ability to foster authentic relationships with athletes and build brand loyalty is essential.
- Digital & Social Media Proficiency: Strong command of digital and social media marketing, including campaign management on platforms used by endurance athletes. Familiarity with analytics tools for tracking and optimizing campaign performance is a must.
