Assigns to Communications Specialist and creates compelling long and short form narratives that convey our mission and impact for use across mediums and uses data strategically. Writes and assigns advertorials and stories that feed into paid advertising opportunities as identified by the Marketing & Events Specialist. Writes press releases and media pitches as assigned.
Develops and, along with assignments to Communications Specialist and vendors, executes content strategy across a range of mediums (e.g., social media, website, etc.)
Collaborates with Vice President of Marketing and Communications on website and media outreach strategy and manages their execution.
Partners with Communications Specialist and across the organization to establish and maintain easy and sustainable story sharing processes with key stakeholders, a means of tracking and reviewing potential stories, and identification/assignment of stories and supporting data to appropriate channels.
Supports fundraising efforts through creation/execution management of multi-channel fundraising direct marketing program (including print newsletter and annual report), manages expert speaker focused events (e.g., Lunch & Learn), provides images and content to enhance grant funding requests and update reports. Maintains a thorough knowledge of the ROI on all fundraising direct marketing and speaker series activities, and makes recommendations regarding ways to grow donors and dollars in a cost-effective manner.
Manage and attend media appearances and on-site interviews. Support and attend marketing, development and other community events as needed.
Leads development and sending of biweekly Pupdate internal e-news to staff, tracking its effectiveness and proactively seeking opportunities for greater engagement. Supports additional internal communications as needed.
Develops and manages communications calendar, ensuring communications across the organization to key audiences are coordinated.
Manages MailChimp account for organization, including template creation and updates. Leverages functionality to optimize engagement and metrics, ensuring organization of lists and link tracking/attribution/tagging standards across teams and flow into Google Analytics.
Serve as Marketing Team’s traffic manager for internal requests for digital and print communications to East Bay SPCA audiences and staff, including brochures, banners, facility signage, website and social media content. Follows up on requests upon receipt, assigns tasks to team members, along with due dates, and ensures tasks are completed.
Team lead for Google Analytics, establishing dashboards, standards for link tracking, creating campaign conversion tracking, regularly reporting ROI and making recommendations.
Collaborates with Communications Specialist to provide to and request from them visual assets.
Supports responding to customer inquiries on business and social media accounts, including but not limited to, Yelp, Google, LinkedIn, etc.
Ensure the organization’s mission and brand is consistent and present in all work, including management of the brand style guide.
Stay abreast of communications and direct marketing trends, as well as those within the animal welfare space. Bring updated best practices and recommendations to the team on a regular basis.

Minimum Qualifications
Project management expertise: defining requirements; communication; developing timelines; workflows; maintaining budgets; and keeping teams on track to meet deadlines and goals. Experience using Asana a plus.
Strong storytelling, and copywriting skills, with attention to detail for ensuring consistent, accurate, high-quality content across platforms and for a diverse audience. Familiarity with AP style. Experience writing for a donor audience a plus.
Expertise in website strategy, content management (e.g., WordPress), utilizing digital media, social media platforms and other online communication tools.
Experience using creative design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) and social media management tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite).
Demonstrated experience managing direct marketing campaigns, including paid campaigns and associated platform management. Fundraising direct marketing experience a plus.
Media relations and associated writing experience.
Experience managing direct report staff members.
Experience leading social media accounts across a range of platforms for multiple organizations.
Knowledge of and experience in a business setting with email marketing platforms such as MailChimp, from developing templates to analytics. Experience with Google Analytics.
Experience in video and photo capture and editing, including creation of video across a range of social platforms.
Experience working with external vendors and associated budget/scope management.
High proficiency using Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
Work experience with the nonprofit sector preferred. Familiarity with animal welfare a plus.
Must be able to work directly with dogs and cats.
Ability to work well independently and collaboratively with a high degree of professionalism.
Ability to effectively prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong work ethic with initiative to creatively solve problems, improve efficiencies and exceed expectations.
Must have transportation and availability to work some nights, early mornings, weekends and holidays as needed.
